  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Talk to the recruiter and see what you have to physically do, then workout. Memorize Marine and Navy rank structure. Read over and Marine Corps information the recruiters give you. Part of boot camp is learning Marine Corps history and weapons specifications a la "The mission of the Marine Corps rifle squad is to locate, close with, and destroy the enemy be fire and maneuver." Practice yelling like a recruit, ask your recruiter. The more you prepare the better off you'll be but if you don't prepare they will teach you.

I agree with Desi, and that advice goes for anyone joining any branch. Get a step ahead of your battle budies/shipmates/wingman. Learn the rank of the branch you want to serve in, get yourself in shape and any extras about that particular branch you can learn.

I dont see how the heck the Recruiter thought I was going to survive any of this.
I'm pretty scrawny. I'll have lots of working out to do, that's for sure.
From my experience the scrawny guys are generally better off than the heavy ones. You should do fine Amadeus.

Getting through bootcamp takes more heart than brawn. Preparing yourself is the best way to go. When I got there, after participating in the physical aspect of it, I though, "This is it?" I was actually quite disappointed! However, it is easier on you if you condition and run before you leave.

If you have the heart to complete boot, it'll happen. Some of the gals in my platoon were a full foot shorter than me and weighed about 90-100 pounds. They did it and walked across the parade deck on graduation day.
