Wow , I can't believe it I have been away for a week and this thread is actually still going on. Well for those interested, there is ample evidence in the Bible to show Jesus did not pick Judas for him to betray him. The funny thing is the verse in John 6 is not saying that Jesus knew who the betrayer was going to be.

Second (and this is the "obvious") - is that it was through the power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus was performing his miracles (a picture of the Trinity in action). I believe that the Pharisess knew this was God amongst them (because of the Holy Spirit's conviction) and still made the foolish comment that they did in an effort to convince the people that he was not God. It's why they got the harsh reaction they got and why Jesus said in verse 37 of Matthew "For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
Hope this helps...

Hmmn you state this is obvious then proceed to talk about this is what you believe. What you believe is not obvious my friend.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know how the Jewish religious leaders saw Jesus. The answer is obvious because Jesus HIMSELF gave the answer in a parable about how these leaders knew who he was when he talked about the man who own a vineyard or an orchard. As Jesus himself pointed out in the parable they killed the prophets knowing who they were and they desired to kill him Jesus because they knew he was the son of God. So you see what you believe is wrong because in your belief you stated the Jews wanted to kill Jesus because they saw him as the almighty himself?

Hi LB, hope you don’t mind if I try to explain this one. It’s a bit sloppy.

If you compare the gospels you'll find that Jesus had celebrated two Passovers before choosing the twelve from his many disciples to be his Apostles. That's about one and a half years into his ministry.

Oh yea? Please list book, chapter, and verses so we can see what you are talking about.
Ok, all the gospels have the account of Jesus’ baptism, then Matthew, Mark and Luke tell of the fasting and temptations of Jesus, and then, from that point on John is the most informative as he tells of John the baptisers testimony of who Jesus was, and through to his first miracle and his visit to Capernaum.
John records that the Passover was near and Jesus went to Jerusalem, in John 2:13. Then John explicitly states that Jesus was at the Passover - John 2:23.
Now, After reading Johns gospel you’ll see that Matthew and the others have left a gap here of no more than 6 months-ish (?) between the temptations of Jesus, and the departure to Galilee, as they now speak of John the baptiser being arrested and Jesus leaving for Galilee, mirrored in Johns gospel where we read also that Jesus left for Galilee. So according to scripture Jesus has definitely celebrated one Passover so far before choosing his apostles.

The next Passover feast is again recorded in the book of John at 5:1 and after relating a few other things his account seemingly skips almost a year because we arrive at the feeding of the 5000 and John, once again, indicates that the next Passover is near in John 6:4.

But, this seeming gap is filled in by the other gospels where we find that during that time Jesus had infact chosen his apostles - Luke 6:12-16. So yes, Jesus did celebrate two Passovers before choosing the twelve. Some simple maths would suggest that because Jesus was baptized in the autumn, and the Passovers were celebrated in the spring, that must mean that it was AT LEAST a year and a half into his ministry before Jesus chose the twelve.
