  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

JW commented these to me on Reddit; How would you answer these?

Even if you were to succeed at correcting their Theology, they would still go to Hell if they died without getting Saved...
My JW friend refuses to listen to any Christian arguments. She's been indoctrinated in that religion pretty well. She knows what they teach. Sadly. May God bring her to the light of the gospel.

As noted in my prior posts - JW's are very interested in the New Covenant and participating in the emblems of the Lord's Supper and yet are prohibited from being under the NC and from participating by their religion. This is a known sticking point with them and their members have gone on record discussing the problem.

When they celebrate the Lord's Table they pass the emblems around "as if" people can partake - but only a small group still left alive can actually participate since they view all the 144,000 slots already taken up - and ONLY the 144,000 can participate in partaking of the Lord's Table - and in being taken to heaven when Jesus comes.

This puts them in a very difficult position for "evangelism" as they try to convince others to "join them" and they seem to get around it by the fact that outsiders generally don't know about this flaw.

Interesting. I thought they very rarely celebrated the Lord's Supper and thought of themselves as saved. Thanks for the information!

J/Ws can declare themselves to be among the 144,000; even though most do not, thus far there have been almost twice as many members of the 144,000 compared to the 144,000 one would expect.:sigh:
Yep, that's all you have to do is declare. There's no test or anything. You're supposed to have the witness of the Holy Spirit inside of you telling you you're a child of God.

Well... I have that. So the last two witnesses I talked to, I told them that I must be part of the anointed class, the 144,000. I don't think they believed me.

When talking with Jehovah's witnesses ask yourself what your own motives are because the witnesses are motivated by a desire to have you share their beliefs and serve Jehovah & Jesus.

Their theology is unlike the beliefs of Christian churches - Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox. Jehovah's witnesses teach
  1. That Jehovah alone is God
  2. That Jesus is a creature - albeit, the first and greatest
  3. That Jehovah is omniscient and omnipotent but not omnipresent
  4. That heaven is reserved for 144,000 witnesses who are Jesus' spiritual brethren
  5. That all Jehovah's witnesses who are not of the 144,000 are not Jesus' brethren
  6. That all who are not of the 144,000 yet are faithful Jehovah's witnesses will inherit the Earth as a paradise to live in forever.
  7. That the governing body of Jehovah witnesses are Jehovah's chosen instrument for the accurate interpretation of holy scripture and one must loyally follow the governing body's teaching to be faithful to Jehovah
  8. That those who are disfellowshipped (excommunicated) are guilty of wickedness and must publicly repent for a period of time that convinces the local body of elders that they are sincere in their desire to be forgiven and reinstated
  9. That those who are not Jehovah's witnesses are "worldly people" with whom Jehovah's witnesses ought not form friendships on the principle that "bad associations corrupt useful habits"
  10. That the end of this "system of things" is very close and one ought not waste time and energy on "higher education" - rather one ought to spend one's time witnessing from door to door (when permitted) and by other means.
There are, of course, many more things that they teach but the above highlight some of the differences between their teaching and the teaching one will receive in a Christian Church.
