Despite you committing Bibliolatry which really bothers me, if you accept the Bible over science, why don't you believe the Sun revolves around the Earth, or the Earth is flat? Both can be supported by Biblical verses, and both were believed by the ancient Hebrews.heatherwayno said:The bible is ludicrous?? What a direct insult to God almighty who inspired every word of it not to deceive us or for us to interpret in whatever way suits us- but to guide us and teach us to be more like him. If the world says evolution is fact and the bible disagrees- I will follow the bible.
Evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life. The more "accurate" scientist get to the origin of life- the farther from the real truth (which is God inspired and can be found in the bible) that they get.
Take it from someone who was a YEC Biblical literalist for 3 years on the largest atheist board on the internet. People are turned off from Christianity due to the absurdity of things like a 6,000 year earth or global flood, and that there is no evidence. What turns people off to christianity is that you have christians who say that we should trust the world rather that the contents of the bible.
The world is God's creation. Why shouldn't we trust it? Do you dare question God's observable creation?
Most unbelievers will never believe the Bible because it's circular logic. Believing in the events of the Bible because the Bible says so is not going to convince anyone. If they can't believe the bible- why in the world would someone want to become christian?
Allegorical story to get a theological message across. If you can interpret the bible to really mean something else- they could someone tell me why the tower of Babel story is in the bible anyway?
Because the ancient Hebrews couldn't understand nuclear fusion, sedimentation, evolution, plate tectonics etc.? They would have had no clue what God was talking about and the theological message would have been clouded by the complexity of scientific knowledge.I would just like to hear the views of someone who is choosing to substitute their knowledge over the infinite wisdom of the one who inspired it. Tell me- answer for God- what was he meaning and why did he not just really say what he meant.
Why is he trying to confuse us by making his observable creation completely disagree with the literal account of the Bible? A universe with 4.5 billion years of history not just age, if it was created 6,000 years ago is deceptive and confusing. So one should ask you why God is deceiving us if Genesis is literal. Romans says we can clearly see things in the things he's made. We can't clearly see anything in creation if a literal Genesis is right. Why is he trying to confuse us and turning people away because the book we are supposed to live by is not really true?
You interpret the Bible the second you open it. It is in a different language which means translators had to reinterpret some of the Hebrew since many words and verses in Hebrew make no sense in English. Everyone on Earth interprets the Bible, even you. It's inevitable. If you interpret the bible- how can you be sure that Jesus is really a savior? Perhaps this is just a symbol for something else. Once you create a new meaning for anything in the bible- anything other than how God intended it- you are destroying the credibility of the entire bible because it is left open for people to dissect- rejecting any part that is too difficult, unpleasant to follow.
If it wasn't to deceive us we shouldn't be able to accurately investigate the entire universe and find everything in contradiction with the Bible. Embedded age is called the Omphalos argument. How do you know God didn't create everything last thursday? The Earth and universe have 4.5 billion years of history. Craters, fossils, starlight, etc. etc. that all contradict a 6,000 year old universe.Of course- no one understands why God works the way he does- why he imbedded age into the Earth. I can say for sure it was not to deceive us. But do we really understand anything about God?
And no exception for you either thinking your interpretation of the Bible is the only correct one and everyone else is delusional. What an ego you have! The problem is that people are getting "too big for their britches", thinking that their wisdom exceeds what God has said. What an ego these people have!!!!
