must say, i am greatly loving listening to As I Lay Dying. I lived out in Portland, Oregon for a short stint, and saw them live, and i loved them before that, but after that wow. and their lyrics are just awesome. plus musically, i absolutely their style. but that's me :)

Dimmu Borgir is always good to listen to, even though they're the heaviest death metal band I know, they still manage to make their songs sound different from one another, a thing most death metal bands can't pull off very well. And they actually talk about important stuff, not all this "I hate my parents" or "Oh why doesn't this girl like me" or whatever boring repetitive **** most bands are always singing about.

Other good ones include Mushroomhead, Soil, Tool, Ill Nino, and Sepultura.

i really like ill nino a lot and sepultura. you like soulfly? i'm more of a fan of soulfly than sepultura, but sepultura will always be awesome.

i know how you feel with what people write about. even tho, i believe it is good for people to exert that frustration that they have had a bad family life, or a bad relationship end, but do it with every song on the album? that gets redundant.

im not so into nu-metal. i do, however, love tool, but they're not nu-metal at all, or any kind of metal for that matter.
As for Dimmu, they're black metal and nowhere near the heaviest, but no doubt a good band. And you do have a point about the 'message'. With a majority of bands these days singing teen angst or relationship problems, metal is one of the few genres that keep true to music and not message. And if you do look at lyrics, you'll find, often, a very good poetic verse strewn about.

thank god for metal

indeed. i'm loving HeavenShallBurn, In Flames for a few examples. GREAT METAL from Germany.

europe is for sure producing some great metal. i must admit tho too, that us Yanks are giving some good metal rounds. ie As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, God Forbid.

by the way, anyone know where Nile is from? that band is awesome in my opinion.

would sure to hear any recommendations from ya links234. wouldn't mind if i am missing out on anything good over there and or at least maybe here a name i haven't heard of and such.

hey to anyone out there, anyone know of any good Christian metal from over in Europe? Extol is a good band in my opinion, but just curious to see what other recommendations. i love both sides of metal, so it'd be cool for any recommendations of maybe obsecure bands.

feel free to drop a line, that's what this thread is for, haha. God Bless you all!

In Flames are Swedish.

They're okay, but not nearly as good as Rammstein, Eis-Brecher, Megaherz, et. al.

by the way, anyone know where Nile is from? that band is awesome in my opinion.
Never heard of them, sorry. :( I'll check out DC++, though.

Heheheh. I'll start a new thread! :)

Sorry, I'm an atheist. Can't help you there. :(

Tatted Saint,
I haven't heard it, but I just saw them live tonight so I got to hear some of the new songs. From what I could tell they were really good. It's kind of hard to get a handle on a live Dillinger song if you haven't heard it a few times first so half the time I had no idea what was going on. They only played four songs off of Calculating Infinity, which is fine, but I must say that when they played the second song from that album it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I would go so far as to say it was the best song I have ever seen played live.
p.s. My ears hurt so bad right now.
