• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey.

After being filled with thoughts of different kind( lack love, solitude, destiny, girlfriend... sorry i cant enlist them all. And I am not going to tell...sorry) i have just <staff edit>. After dreadful pain I... felt relief! I mean all that disturbing elements were gone! I have simple forgot them. I felt like nothing which could be hostile to me. Feeling mental relief after phys pain is...? I have just self-injured? I mean I understand that deliberately just caused pain to me by myself. But suprisingly I felt peace... Is it? I simply have no clue. Did any1 feel like this? So its mental ...?
Thanks for help in advance.

well when a person gets hurt it releses a hormone and the same for when you cut it's suposed to make you feel better- not hurt so much. so yes it's normal for you to feel better. that is why it is so hard to quit cutting...

I'm sorry you are in so much pain.
Self injury does bring a temporary relief, but it really isn't worth the pain and distress it can cause in the long term. It is an addiction, and very hard to stop... please don't carry on to that point!
It's a way of dealing with issues and emotional pain, but it isn't a healthy way. Are you seeing a doctor or counselor about the way you are feeling? They can help you to deal with whatever is causing you to do this, to deal with depression and hurt in a way which is constructive rather than destructive.
I hope that you can escape from this before you become any more entangled in it, and that you can find other ways to achieve peace with yourself.
