Hi my name's Jamie, and I've been going to church ever since I was just a baby. And, I've always sang ever since I could remember. But lately, I feel that God is calling me to do something greater with my voice. I feel that He is calling me to share His word through my singing. But the problem is that I don't even know how or where to get started. So, if you guys could give me some advice, or maybe even just pray for me, that would be great. It will cost some money, but you will need to put together a media pack to send to managment companies that will consist of a decent demo which should be recorded in a somewhat decent studio, professional photographs, and whatever else the companies you send to demand be in the pack as well. It is also best if you write your own, or have someone else write origional songs.
After that, you start looking up management companies that work within the Christian market and see about sending in your media pack and what they require.
The music business isn't easy. Lots of travel, lots of work, and lots of politics. It's not nearly as glamourous as we think it is when we are children. It takes a certain type of person to really do it. I don't say this to discourage, but to inform you of what you want to get yourself into. Make sure you have the support of those who are closest to you, more specifically, your husband and children, because you will be spending a good amount of time away from them if a management company or label takes interest.

I know it's been a while since you posted this. Hopefully you have been able to start in your ministry. But if that last post overwhelmed you as much as it did me, I'll guess you haven't done much with it.
I would suggest a much smaller investment. Just pick a few songs that you love and buy the tracks for them. Sing at your home church and then maybe call around to a few churches and ask to be a special music guest. After a while you can travel around to local towns. Ask if they allow love offerings to be taken up and use it to further your ministry.
If you write your own songs that's even better because you can easily have them recorded and sell CD at your appearances for a decent price.
