  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just for once let us all try to be honest.

Being a Christian does not have anything to do with the theory of evolution.

Worldwide there are probably more Christians that accept the theory of evolution than don't. The U.S. is one of the few countries where it is the other way around.

And don't say you have to believe in the whole Bible. I don't think any Christian believes the whole Bible. In fact they will go out of their way to say that the Bible does not say what it clearly says to defend their beliefs.

About a 4th of the US male pipulation was said to have been killed in the Civil War, most of them being the North, who fought ro free the slaves.

No changes were made to the Constitution saying what kind of men were equal. And besides, Creation was taught even after slavery ended. The idea that teaching Creation is schoola will somehow take us back to slavery isn't just silly. It's just a lie.

True. But you have to keep in mind that this was largely because the Union had more troops. Percentage-wise, the South took a bigger hit. Also, a good number of the dead on the Union side were, themselves, slaves

You're right, that is a lie, and I'm glad I never said it. However, it's just as much a lie to say that evolution was the cause of some moral decline in American civilization.

Humans are just naturally corrupt. That's the whole point of "checks and balances". It's because humans don't trust humans. And that's why we need government and rules too. I would be fine following some laws in the Bible, as long as people don't force me to believe in God.

You could be right that it won't cause a moral decline, but it's just hard if, let's say, your little brother is on their death bed and they ask you what will happen to them. Do you tell me that they'll be in the ground or that they'll be in a better place?

Or if their dad dies in war. Do you tell them that the dad is gone forever, or that thry'll see their dad in heaven?

Kids are sensitive with this stuff, and so are many adults, so what do we do?

It's a hard thing to do.

I am not a fan of Vegas. I dislike casinos because I can do math and I recognize how they prey on weak people.

How about outside? One of the better weddings I went to was in the "backyard" of an employee of mine. Her husband had a house on a river with a nice small mountain approximated 5,000 feet in height, on the other side. Her son was getting married. Beautiful setting. Beautiful bride. Too bad the wedding didn't last.
