  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi friends,
I have not visited in a little while. It has been great to read what has been going on with you all. Welcome new people. Say what is on your heart.

I have been much too busy this week and am feeling it now. I am not feeling well at all. I need to slow down and reasses because my life feels like a wound up top spinning out of control. It is very hard to hear His voice when one lives like that. I have started a new job, in additon to being a mother of an 18 month old. I'm now working two days a week out of the home but really it is more like three or four days work with all the preperation that needs to be done for the program. I love my job but this week I was feeling a little under the weather and my energy level was low, so it felt like too much.

I was engaged to a young man from SA, years ago. His mother taught me to say, Moonie anastat clawp eck fo yo. I'm sure the spelling is wrong becase I spelled it like I say it. The translation is, Stop it, otherwise I will give you a smack!

God bless and keep all of you. With love from, Emily

Emily, I've missed seeing you! I wanted to tell you something. Earlier..somewhere here we had talked about african violets and I said I never had one that bloomed. Guess what? Mine did! I gave it some plant food and in about 2 weeks it had blooms. Thanks for your advice!!

I pray you have the energy that you need...Amen!

I want to talk loads, but I never know what to say :sigh:
me too  but I just plug along anyway.
Maybe you could start by saying "Hi" to someone and "How are you?"

Hi Garath  How are you?
then introduce yourself and say ... something that may evoke a response like

I am mesue and I am entirely too busy sometimes.

(someone else may ask)
Why are you so busy?

and I may reply (or not as soon as expected because I get busy elsewhere)
"because I work full time and do a whole bunch of other stuff"

and so on

well... A lot of things that's happening with me, is all rather complicated.

It all seems to revolve round my Asperger's Syndrome that I've got, and it's mainly to do with my parents trying to get me (money) benefits, and also trying to get a job.

I've done some voluntary work at a Salvation Army shop for about a month, and with the help from an Autism/Aperger's place called Prospects, they're helping me (trying to, anyway) find a good job for me - which is rather hard because I have quite a few 'restrictions' to do with working hours, and how I can get there.

Gareth,
9 Words my friend: I CAN EITHER GET BITTER OR I CAN GET BETTER. Do not let the the things around you get you down. Look at it as an oppertunity to learn. God will help you. My one friend always says. Just do your best and God will do the rest.

I will pray that God will help you in getting a job. That sickness/syndrome you have, what does it actually do to you?

Less than 15,000 to go! ^_^ :pink:

How soon will we have 30,000 members??

Just over 1,000 to go..

I'm sure, when I joined, @ 48 days ago, we had 23,744 members & just over 1.5 million posts, so if you are a number cruncher..

I seem to recall working out, some time ago, that the average member makes @ 1 post daily, so I reckon we'll be thru the 2 million posts barrier in @ 12 hours

As I reckon @ 100+ folk join on an average day, we should have 30,000 members in 7/10 days

Of course..if enough folk get all excited & determined to tell more folk @ it..

God bless!

Hi all!

It's 22:35 on a chilly Saturday night here in the Jerusalem suburbs. Shabbat (i.e. the Sabbath) is out (as we say) and so are all the other stillsmallvoices (i.e. Wendy & Da Boyz are  ).

Shabbat went very nicely: the usual praying, eating & sleeping. Speaking of South Africa, we had a couple over for lunch earlier today, he is from Seattle & she is from Johannesburg.

Lessee...

Gareth, we pray for you! Good luck.

Hi Mesue!

Emily, welcome back!

I look forward (really!) to eventually welcoming all of you here in Israel!

Here http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satell...cle/Printer&cid=1078979353415&p=1008596975996 is Rabbi Shlomo Riskin's column (from yesterday's Jerusalem Post newspaper) on today's weekly Shabbat scripture readings (which I mentioned in one of my previous posts). I think that he makes & a very nice point (and refers to one of the reasons why I chose the username of stillsmallvoice).

Be well!

I got this from a website:
"Asperger's syndrome is a form of autism. Autism, in all of its forms, is what is called a pervasive developmental disorder. In essence, it is a slight difference in the construction of the brain, probably present since birth, that affects the way the child develops. It's not a mental condition... it is a neurological difference. Although the terms that describe it (syndrome, disorder, et cetera) have onerous connotations, it's more accurate to simply say that so affected individuals are different"

Thanks a lot, Philippe2! Hope that info helped :)

Hi all!

The USA is lucky. The NCAA men's basketball tournament, which is due to start later this week, is known as "March madness." How lucky the USA is to have madness confined to March. Here it lasts all year 'round. It just neeever stops. :sigh:

Ashdod (where yesterday's double suicide bombing http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/Printer&cid=1079325334670&p=1078027574121 took place) is mentioned 21 times in the Tanakh. Ashdod http://ohr.edu/tw/weinbach/loveland/lland072.htm is most famously associated with the incident at the beginning of I Samuel 5:

Now the Philistines had taken the ark of God, and they brought it from Eben-ezer unto Ashdod. And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands lay cut off upon the threshold; only the trunk of Dagon was left to him.
(Oh, 952 Israelis have been murdered since October 2000. Given the USA's & Israel's respective populations, that's the equivalent of 45,572 Americans being murdered in the same period.)

:(

Like Tanne Dawn, I also have a special place for the Jews. I saw a few minutes ago on the internet of anther suicide boming, where two teenage Palestinians killed themselves and others with them. It is interesting that he Moslems believe that they will get a certain amount of alcohol and virgins once they get to heaven.
Somebody once stated that it looks like their god is a shebeen and brothel owner. Hard words, but he might have a point. Some say that Muslims are peacefull nation, but acording to the Al'Quran they have to kill all Jews and Christians and they will not get punished for it. Even though they might have to kill me I still love them, for they are my neigbour.
God Bless

Gareth,
I still dont quite understand your handicap, me not being a doctor and all, but what gladens my heart is that it seems that you have alot of courage. That is scarce. I look onto people like yourself and say that you guys are the true unsung heroes of the day.
May the Lord keep you in a special way, for you are special.
Phil
PS: I never thought I would say these words to a Pomie. Well done in beating WI in the cricket.
