It's not snowing here. But it was 19º this morning. A bit nippy if I do say so myself...especially for Southern California.

I would love to live somewhere where there weren't so many people. Looking out your front window into your front yard MLE reiterated to me just how crowded it really is here.

What was your bible study about? We are studying the ten commandments. I spent quite a bit of time today preparing the worship component for our meeting tomorrow. Do you lead your group? What are you studying in school and what do you want your career to be?

Hi all!

See Job 38:
"Out of whose womb came the ice?" I LOVE that!

Be well!

I like the "treasuries" part. It reminds me of the last time we had a really good dump of snow(1 ft or so). We went outside after the storm in the sunshine. The snow was so glittery. It looked better than diamonds!

I lived for a short time in LA, while my Dad was working on a movie there, so I hear ya! I grew up in Vancouver which, by no means is a big city but it does really give us an appreciation for where we live now!

Talk to you all real soon, bye for now!

I don't know exactly how it happened either. The blooming, I mean. I have had that plant for over a year. I also have had struggles in the past with african violets. When I got it, I did an internet search for african violet info sites. I read up on them a little. I found out they like lots of light but not direct sunlight. The important thing I think I've manaed to do is water them from the bottom. I put a plastic container over the original pot and I only put water in there, for the roots to suck up as it wants. I never get water on the leaves.
I've heard that if you don't take really good care of your plants then they will bloom. So I let it dry out a little, then I mixed up the miracle grow solution with the water and it has been bloming since then. Yaeeeeee!
Have a great day, all of you.

Wow! That is cold for California. What is the temperature like now? It is 11:25 a.m. and 16 degrees where I am at now. But, a toasty 72 degrees inside...I'm stay'n in. :D

I have been watering from the bottom but I think mine don't get enough light. I think there are artificial lights for violets. The plant itself looks great, just no blooms.

Have you prayed over it?
I haven't. People think I'm crazy cause I will lay hands on things that aren't working and pray. I did that to my car and my hot water heater. They both started working better without me spending money I didn't have to spend. Thanks for the reminder.

Amen sister! I have a dear friend and sister whose washing machine broke down and she layed hands on it and it started making all kinds of strange noises, she continued praying and put a load in and it worked fine after that. Praise God Almighty.

Hi all!

I find the Christian concept of laying on hands very interesting. It really doesn't have a parallel in Judaism. Well, I suppose that it might, sort of. Here in Israel, many religious Jews will visit the tombs of this or that holy person from the Bible & pray that God might remember the merit of the holy person and count it in our favor. When DW & I were plowing through fertility treatment, we went to pray & recite Psalms at Rachel's Tomb (http://www.rachelstomb.org/) on the northern outskirts of Bethlehem & the tomb of the prophet Samuel (http://ohr.edu/tw/weinbach/loveland/lland100.htm), just north of Jerusalem. (Last spring, we had a barbeque out in the forests west of Jerusalem & chanced upon Samson's tomb.)

It was interesting to read about your plants. DW & I have a large-ish yard around our grounffloor apartment but, unfortunately, we can't afford to do anything with it right now. My Mom back in Pittsburgh has lots of plants in the house & claims that each one has its own personality. (It says in the Talmud: "If you are planting a tree and hear that the Messiah has come, first finish planting the tree and then go greet him.")

I am like a leafy olive-tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

Psalms 52:10

Be well!

ssv, I think the laying on of hands, for me, is an act of faith. Just like the things that you and your DW did when you were going through your fertility treatments. Praying at the different tombs was an act of faith. I've been telling my DH about you. He wants to visit Jerusalem so much. Thank you for sharing your faith.
