• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just curious...

America as a nation has been becoming more and more corrupt, so it isn't surprising to see the corruption infecting both major parties. As to which party best supports Christianity, I certainly don't think the Democrats do with their support of abortion, gay marriage, etc. and their hostility to any acknowledgment of God in the public arena. On the other hand, Republican support mostly consist of talking the right line shortly before elections. Once in power, their sole interest is in allowing big corporations a free hand to rip everyone off. Congress is hopeless and useless. They are so polarized they can't accomplish much of anything, and when they do it is primarily a bad piece of legislation that most of them haven't even read, the primary purpose of which is to enrich special interests. I personally have totally given up on our political system.

As many of you may be aware of by now, I am politically moderate (though pretty conservative when it comes to my personal lifestyle and theology views) -- the reason being is that I personally see morals lacking in all parties. Maybe in different ways, but they do lack.

Unfortunately you're correct. But the Dems lack on far, far, more issues. Almost to the point of being a danger to Christians.

Now, I have a question (and I sincerely hope I am not out of line in asking this). It's been eating away at me for quite some time, now. It's mainly for those of you here who are Republican (or at least lean toward being conservative politically), though I would like to hear from all sides. This is NOT intended for debate, but rather for satisfying my curiosity, and hearing different points of view.

What are your views of PAST Democrats (such as Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and perhaps Jimmy Carter) as compared with your views of more recent Democrats (from Bill Clinton onward)?

Roosevelt was a socialist through and through. Kennedy was OK. And Carter was a goof ball.

I have heard some Republicans/conservatives express that they didn't think the Democrats of the past were quite as bad as the modern ones.

Roosevelt IS the modern ones.

However, I'm inclined to agree that this viewpoint is not shared among the entire world of political conservatives.

Wanna bet?

The Democrats of old were the current Republican Party, i.e., "conservative," small government, low taxes, etc. When FDR came to power, the sides switched. So I have no beef with past Democrats. After FDR, I do.

this is why christians need to avoid being rank'n'file for one party
