Isaiah 66
22For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
23And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
24And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
My mother always used to come up with this verse when I argued with her about the sabbath. In order to substantiate her claim that God never abolished the sabbath day she used to say that God said that the sabbath would be kept on the new earth, according to Isajah...
----
In another thread the new moons were mentioned and I have given it some thought... :
If we agree on the above verses from the bible that indeed the sabbath day will be kept on the new earth as mentioned in Isajah we must also agree that the new moons will be kept as well, right? Of course one might also agree on the fact that we will keep whatever God will have us keeping, that would be only natural as we are not going to Zion doing our own will. And yes, God will then make known to us what we are going to do and if new moons will be there, we will keep them...
but WHAT happened to the new moons along the way? apparently no one seems to be involved in keeping the new moons? at least not to my knowledge, there are quite a few churches that keep the 7th day sabbath but new moons, maybe, but like I said not to my knowledge...
WHEN did God abolish the new moons? were they part of the old covenant? were they abolished on the cross together with circumcision? and we do no longer have to keep them? at least they werent mentioned in the new testament, so it doesnt matter anyway...
WHY did God abolish them TEMPORARILY? because if we agree and believe the words of God given to us by the prophet Isajah then there is a high chance that the new moons will get a comeback lateron, so there is just an intermission between keeping them?
WERE the new moons inferior to the sabbath in general? the sabbaths were mentioned in the 10 commandment written by the hand of God, while the new moons were passed on to Moses verbally... does this make them less binding?
Feel free to comment on my observations!
