I would love a $5 note for every time I have heard that over the years... I am pretty sure Jesus told us we neither know the day or the hour.

Tl:dr. After the first few paragraphs, I realize how ignorant of history you are.

I would live a $5 note for every time I have heard that over the years... I am pretty sure Jesus told us we neither know the day or the hour.

The impression that I get from your remark is as follows...

As Christians we don't know the day or the hour, so that when Jesus does return, we will only know then, because as we are living for today, we will continue to do so, not knowing the nearness of the day or the hour and hence for when he does come, we will all rise up and dumb founded we shall be, as to say....

What happened, where....what.....how....when.....why did you come now, nothing is wrong....what happened.... It has been like this for generations, so what brings you in our neck of the woods on this day and this hour?

The only sense that I can honestly make of your remark, is a case of no urgency, that is to say plot along, continue as your have been, nothing is wrong with the world, so go back to doing what you have been doing.

But what does Jesus say.....

42“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Matthew 24:42-44)

Jesus says to have the sense of urgency, by considering that every day you live may turn out to be your last, so........

Live today as if it is your last day. So has not the day or the hour come for that individual who dies today?

Who would in their rationale God given mind preach no urgency, after all what is happening around us? i.e. Homosexuality being promoted, definition of family being destroyed, definition of marriage being destroyed, definition of gender being destroyed, definition of what it is to be human, being destroyed......and more......

Has this historically happened before?

Come on be honest people!

They are your words not mine, you don’t even know me and you do not know my commitment to my Lord and Saviour. So kindly keep your incorrect assumptions to yourself.

Good point. Do we ignore a stop sign because the closest cop is thought a long ways away? All scripture is of purpose. What purpose is there for ignored signs?

Lastly, Jesus' first message is the same as his last message which is the same as John's message.

Matthew 3:1 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Matthew 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.

Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

The verse you have quoted does not refer to the Day of Christ that we should be waiting for. Everyone should be terrified to be a living flesh and blood man on the day mentioned in 2 Peter 3:12
So you opine, not mine. Good luck proving me wrong. Do you realize that the quoted text explicitly says we should be looking forward to the day?

True, but how long have there been books and then computers? Daniel prophesied an increase of knowledge in the end times. The invention of the printing press was the first fulfillment of the prophesy, but the ultimate fulfillment is computers, the internet and Google that places the worlds knowledge at the fingertips of all. Other end times prophecies may be ambiguous and seen throughout history, but this one is without doubt only fulfilled in the last 10 years. The only one up of this is the dire prediction by Elon Musk that AI in robots will soon be smarter, better than humans. I predict God will not allow such a thing and the end will come before we accomplish it. It is an even higher tower than the Tower of Babel.

Daniel 12:4 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”

Foxes book of Martyrs.... Tabloid News!

More ocean front property for sale...
Do you think it possible for the Holy Spirit to come to one and inform him that he would not die before the coming of Jesus? This happened before.

Do you think that a prophet will come before Jesus, making way for his arrival? This happened before and is prophesied to happen again.

They are your words not mine, you don’t even know me and you do not know my commitment to my Lord and Saviour. So kindly keep your incorrect assumptions to yourself.

I repeat, that was the impression that I got from your remark.

Yes, they are my words, because it is the impression I discerned, owing to your remarks. I simply interpreted and deciphered a message that I believe is dismissive of the sense of urgency of the times that we are living in, to that of a state of no urgency, meaning business as usual.

My reply was never to interpret your relationship with the Lord, but to highlight the fact that your message was interpreted by me as no urgency, as if nothing harmful to Christianity is manifesting in the times we are living in, to the points I mentioned. Those points are.....

Homosexuality being promoted, definition of family being destroyed, definition of gender being destroyed, definition of marriage being destroyed, definition of what it is to be human, being destroyed.

I don't know why you are so apprehensive about my reply, but I made no assumptions about you, for I have no interest in profiling you. If you have seen truth in my message that strikes a nerve, then count that from the Lord himself.

Do you believe a sense of urgency and vigilance is required, especially in the times we are living in, when considering those points that I mentioned?

I would live a $5 note for every time I have heard that over the years... I am pretty sure Jesus told us we neither know the day or the hour.

Kindly explain to me, what you mean from the deepest part of your heart, when you say.....that you would leave a $5 note for every time you have heard that over the years?

What have you heard?
For how many years have you heard what you heard?
What have you dismissed?
Is the $5 note a phrase meant to mock?
What do you want people to do, if they don't know the day or the hour? Should they be vigilent or relaxed?
Is there a sense of grave urgency to the events unfolding today or not?

When you leave an ambiguous remark like that, is it your intention to spiritually disarm those who are preaching urgency, especially in the times that we are living in?

Let us say that you were standing before the Lord, what would you say to him, is the intention of your remark?

I want to know intention my friend, intention!

Is it meant to discourage those highlighting urgency?
Is it meant to comfort them by offering them a $5 note as a charity offering or to mock them?

So what is it......please explain.

Could you please educate me where this has happened before and where it is prophesied to happen again. I am waiting with baited breath, because I don't believe those are your words, but are God's. Have you been shown something?

So?

I don’t care what silly impressions you get from what others say, You don’t know me so don’t put your words in my mouth.

The truth in the matter is, that I didn't put words in your mouth and in addition you refuse to explain yourself, after much concerted effort on my part to communicate with you from the respect of one human being to another human being.

What more can I say, I guess, I will bear the guilt of the futile exercise in communicating with another human being, my fault.

Have a nice day, I will leave you in peace, because we are not communicating with each other, but rather you are talking down at me on two occasions, without explaining yourself.

Thank you and God forgive both of us.

Here you go and here are a few more of the words of our Lord from the Gospels:

Matt. 24:36 ¶ “But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Luke 12:40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.”

Matt. 25:12 But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I do not know you.’

Luke 12:37 Blessed are those slaves whom the master finds alert when he comes; truly I tell you, he will fasten his belt and have them sit down to eat, and he will come and serve them. 38 If he comes during the middle of the night, or near dawn, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.

Matt. 24:41 Two women will be grinding meal together; one will be taken and one will be left. 42 Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But understand this: if the owner of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.
