Apply that to literally any and every incident of technological progress and it works all the same. In a hundred years perhaps someone will come along and say, "Well back then they had the internet, but now we just upload books directly into our brains".

Or perhaps in a hundred years a nuclear war will bring us back to the iron age and society will go A canticle of Liebowitz on us.

    This is rather humorous.

Trump is actually doing more for the Christians, in the positive than the negative.

Everyone said that Obama was the Anti Christ.... so, now it's Trump... funny.

You are right. We do not know the day or the hour.... But, as someone else has said, we will know the season..God has given us information in order to be knowledgeable of when it will be close, just by the events that preclude it.

Some will say that people have expected it to come in their generation from the time it was written until now.

Thing is..... never before has the events of it's happening been so ready and the technology that is required been available.

Safe to say that no matter what, we are closer than we have ever been before. No prophesy would be contradicted if it was to happen today.

And those two things just happen to be core Christian beliefs, so I'm guessing we're not members of the same religion.

Nope. Acts 1:7, "It is not for you to know the times or seasons which the Father has established by His own authority."

Perhaps you are thinking of the cursing of the fig tree,

"From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, at the very gates. Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away." - Matthew 24:32-25

Jesus isn't talking about His return here, He doesn't start talking about His return until verse 36, up until this He has been talking about the future destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple which transpired in 70 AD.

When talking about His return He is clear, "No one knows", and when His disciples ask, "Will you now restore the kingdom to Israel" He responds, "It's not for you to know the times or seasons". In fact when Jesus talks about His coming He is absolutely clear about the fact that it will be sudden, we won't be able to figure out when, or look to signs, because there won't be any signs,

"For as the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and they knew nothing until the flood came and swept them all away, so too will be the coming of the Son of Man." - Matthew 24:37-39

When the Lord returns, no one will expect it, have anticipated it, or known when it would happen. Life will be going on like usual--people eating, drinking, marrying, having families, going to work. Then suddenly and without warning will the Lord come in judgment, "Two will be in the field, one taken and the other left." (v. 40)

They are not the teachings of Christ...

The immortality of the soul was the first lie Satan told to Eve in the garden and it has persisted ever since even the though the Bible clearly says over and over that the dead sleep til Christ comes.

Sunday sacredness is no where to be found in the Bible. If the Commandment to not kill is still relevant today, then so is the sacredness of the seventh day Sabbath.

So the next thing to happen is a new heaven and new earth?

there are 1,000 years between the Day of the Lord and the day that heaven and earth melt away. If that's the next thing you're waiting on, do you not look forward to the Kingdom first? Do you not look forward to the Rapture of the Church before that?

That book downloading in the brain thing is coming a lot sooner than 100 years. Sophia will learn how to do this to people, I imagine

    I disagree.

Check out this commentary: The Day and Hour: Who Knows? | Endtime Ministries with Irvin Baxter

In fact, we are told that the Lord cometh as a thief in the night BUT we are not in the darkness. We are not out to lunch on the time that it is of high probability. If we read the scriptures and watch the world events, we will have a very good idea that it is close and to be prepared.

    Here is a portion:

Was Jesus speaking here to a First Century audience only or was He also telling you and me, living in the 21st Century, that it is not for us to know the times and seasons either? The answer to this question is simple. We, of this generation, will definitely know the time and the season. Jesus said so in Matthew 24:34. “Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” “This generation” refers specifically to the people who live to see the signs of the end times that He describes in the chapter, including the still-future abomination of desolation.

Paul confirms this teaching. He wrote in I Thessalonians 5:1, “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.” In verse 4, he goes on to say, “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief.” Paul is telling us specifically that we will know the times and the seasons. If we will watch, we will see the day coming.

    That's funny...

People trying to pick out who the Anti Christ is... is the same as picking the day Christ comes...

Trump is not Antichrist, he doesn't fit the bill. But the only thing he's doing for Christians is promoting new age garbage

I think you will find, although it goes with out saying, God is in control of all things, not to mention who is in power where and when. So, it is in God's interest to have Trump as the leader of the US right now. If this were not so.... Trump would not be in power.

I'm not saying that I agree with everything Trump is saying (duh) or doing. However, I do know that he consults with Pence, his vice, very often and Pence is an admitted Christian who has gone on record to say that it is this belief that he puts before anything else.

I was just talking to a friend of mine that does a lot of research and has a personal interest in prophesy.
He informed me that he has been reading a lot of speculation that Trump will, in fact, be in for another term.
Another thing that he has found is a very popular view is that, as we know, a small group of very wealthy and powerful people control a lot of what goes on in this world. Including US political events. It is, from what he has read, poplar belief that these controlling people did not want Trump in power. It is an event of concern or revelation that for whatever reason, Trump has been able to steel a spot in this prestigious and powerful office.... with the blessing of God... as I mentioned before, God IS in control... and that he is in this office AGAINST the powers that have been controlling this particular office for decades.

In my opinion, Trump has stalled or slowed or put a monkey wrench, into the plans of evil that are controlling this earth. It is also my opinion, that if Clinton had of won.... we would have seen great changes in the rights and freedoms of God believing Christians in the west.

Trump may not be that optical of a force for God's plan. However, things are happening, not reported by the media, that are small steps and changes for the good of the US and the world... Under Trumps leadership.

It just occurred to me... if we are always ready and expecting him, how will he be able to come if he's supposed to come at a time when we're not expecting him?

Gosh, maybe that's why it's taken so long... too many peeps have been expecting him through the centuries, so he hasn't had the chance to return unexpectedly.

Given that we are eternal beings, we don't really have a "last" day, imo.
