  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Kind of like all Americans speak differently. :D

Exactly :)

I've just seen far too many American based films where they talk about 'speaking British' and it only sounding like Hugh Grant. There is just so much variety in how we sound when we speak lol.

I have a friend from Sydney though who said that Australians don't really have different accents, there's only really one. Which shocked me as their country is a lot bigger than ours. But then we're much more densely populated as well...*shrug. I was still surprised though.

Anyway sorry, I didn't mean to derail the thread, lol.

But as for the actors playing the roles... are they "putting on" an accent to play the role? Or are we just hearing their natural accents without any thought as to where in England they may be portraying their character?

But i've never heard anyone talk with that accent outside of Mary Poppins (and now Lost!) but i can just about let it slide. I remember we had a discussion on Hugh Laurie's accent during season 4!

I think Sayid does a good arabic accent. When I hear the actor speak with his British accent, it always blows me away because I'm so not expecting it.
There is a guy like that visiting from our London office and I have to try ard not to smile when I hear him speak. :D
