  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We enter into the God's rest by faith. We cease from our own works (which we would otherwise have occasion to boast about). If we walk in the Spirit, we bear God's fruit, and do God's works. They're done by grace. You couldn't possibly do them yourself. That's why there is no boasting, except in the Lord. We boast of His ability and goodness, what He does and who He is.

We receive the grace of God as a gift and work from the rest.

We enter in by faith? Isn't that a constant effort by us? Hence we can boast about staying faithful? Or is it a combined effort because we "choose" to walk in the spirit, and then God helps us, in which case we still have something to boast about. If the grace of God is a gift then wouldn't that hold God accountable for not giving us this gift? Or is the gift given only through an effort from us, in which case we could still boast? Also, if God was the sole one to be praised then why would there be any point in building your rewards in heaven? I mean, wouldn't it be more or less how much grace God granted you? Thus you deserve no rewards at all.

All I can say is wow! You're want to boast?

You do have a part to play. You'll have to deny your flesh and walk in Christian love. You'll have to not be of the world. You'll "cooperate" with the Spirit of grace. Grace is offered to all men so He is doing His part, rest assured.

The eternal life is the gift. Your works are rewarded. I don't think we "deserve" them, but He gives them anyway because of His love and appreciation. You will surely see, if you make it to Heaven, that God worked in you to will and do His good pleasure. He put the desire in you, which you had to choose to obey. He also gave you the ability which you cannot do. For your small part, you would receive a great reward. Given the immensity of it all, your puny part and God's huge part and your undeserved reward (as far as we're concerned), boasting won't be on anyone's mind except to boast on how wonderful and loving He is. Do you agree with this?

I think we understand eachother now. I just wanted to clear up that it isn't a piggyback ride all the way to heaven, as some would have me believe. It is indeed a team effort but obviously God plays the bigger part. Yes i agree that nobody will think to boast, myself included lol. Yes, God is great!!! thanks for the answers man.

I see a problem here. If one is to take no responsibility for enduring, obeying, persevering, then how can one be held accountable? Would that not imply that God is responsible for those who succeed or fail? If not then people will be able to boast because God didn't piggyback them all the way to heaven.

The grace of God doesn't mean the believer sits back and does nothing. Sanctification is an on going effort between the Spirit and the believer. Salvation is a sovereign work of God, from beginning to end. The evidence that God is working in your life is the fruit of the Spirit. He who does not have the Spirit and does not walk in the Spirit, does not have the Spirit, therefore he does not belong to Christ and is not saved (Romans 8). The bible tells us it is God working in you (Phillipians 2:12), so He gets all the glory and credit for your salvation. You don't boast about anything. Those who fall away or fail, demonstrate they were never truly saved (1 John 2:19). I believe in election and predestination, but at the same time in the New Testament God command everyone to turn away from their sin and come to Christ to be saved. I have witnessed to my dad, who's a Catholic, and when I have witnessed to him he just seems to reject what I say. If he ends up in hell, it will be his fault, not God's. How the sovereignty of God in salvation, and man's responsibility fit together is beyond our comprehension on this side of eternity.

Hi all!

So the bible says that God will wipe away our tears.

I take this very literally.

Why would we still be crying after death?

I somewhat picture pure white light shining through as our entire life is replayed before Him.

Even every thought we have ever had.

This will be such horror for me to see and hear, you know, like what I was in this world.

God has eternity in His hands, and time will really no longer apply once we've passed on from this world, so for me, He will get to everyone like this.

I was hoping for something simple, you know, like God asking why we deserved Heaven.

If I said anything besides the blood of Christ, then yeah, I would be hosed.

There's no way it's going to be that easy, will it?

Anyway, I'm asking what some of your thoughts are on this.

We can't have memory of this world, otherwise, where would be the perfect, eternal joy of being in heaven?

Yet, I'm still bothered by why God would wipe our tears unless we knew about our sinful life.

I wrote too much. Sorry. I should have kept my question simple.

So yeah, what's your thoughts on what judgment day will be like for you.

How's that? :)

God wipes away our tears because we are sad for our loved ones and friends who did not make it into the kingdom. There will be sorrow in our hearts because of that. God must wipe away our tears and sorrow so that we can enjoy the splendors of his kingdom. Remember that in the previous chapter, the dead are judged and cast into the lake of fire based on their record. The judgment is serious.

Yes Alive again and i discussed this and i now know that technically speaking, one would be able to boast of their obedience, perseverance, etc. Of course nobody would because of the far greater work which God has done in your life and just the general appreciation of doing it for you at all. Hence we have rewards for works. It's a team effort which does require a continuous effort from the believer rather than sitting back and saying "ok, God will do it all for me." I also know that there is no way to earn your salvation through works, only Jesus can. Yeh, the line is pretty fuzzy.

Based on many of things that go around christianforums.com such as here, people will not make it in to heaven even if they are born again. We say salvation is soley dependent on the work of Jesus Christ then believers go back and say unless someone obeys, they will not make it in. I don't understand, there are numerous conditions on whether one gets in such as the verse that talks about a list of people who won't inherit the kingdom of God such as liars, adulterers, then there are verses where you don't get in unless you KNOW God. So people will say your relationship with God determines whether you get in, then we have verses about the behaviors that get in which I assume we are responsible for. Say I am truly saved. I die but was not freed from lying. Do I make it in?

You are a new believer, and the bible warns you to beware of false doctrines and stay in the Word and ask for the Spirit to teach you the truth so that you will not be confused by doctrines presented on this forum from denominations that have no biblical basis.
All believers struggle with something, is lying the thing you struggle with? The Lord can take that away, if you're willing to let it go. If you are saved, Christ paid for ALL your sins because He died on the cross before you were born and already knew every sin you would commit. Yes, the bible says that at salvation we are forgiven from our past sins, but we are spared from the penalty of sin, which is hell. That is salvation. Now, when the Spirit takes up residence in you, the power of sin is broken so you will not continue to deliberatly or habitually sin. The Spirit moves you to obedience to the Word, to prayer, to fellowship, and other edifying things.
When I got saved, I thought it was me and my desire to read the bible, to pray, go to church, to obey what the Word says, but after I read the bible and understood how the Spirit works, I see that it is an ongoing effort between me and the Spirit, and it should be the same for you as well. 2 Peter 1:3-11 tells us to add certain things to our faith, like virtue, godliness, brotherly kindness, love, self-control. If you see this things in your life working and increasing, you will get the assurance that you're saved.
Regardless of what anyone on this forum tells you, the bible clearly teaches that all born-again believers are saved and enter the Kingdom. This is fact! Anyone who says otherwise is teaching a heresy. Some scriptures are hard to understand and difficult to accept, that's why Peter said, "He [Paul] writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction." (2 Peter 3:16).

This life / world has much to cry sorrowfully over.

And many of us are greatly traumatized by the things we go through.

At the end, Jesus said things will be worse than ever... He also said men would be carrying on as they normally do - which tends to indicate that for us who are aware of the darkness having seen The Light, the degradation of the human condition will be horrific...but to those accustomed to living in darkness, it will seem like business as usual.

So for us, who are sensitive to the spiritual in Christ, we will suffer much anguish over the downfall of our civilization, and the trauma thereof will linger slightly even unto the moment we first stand before God as the accepted in The Beloved, but as God reaches towards us to wipe those tears of past traumas away, they will turn, in the twinkling of an eye, into tears of joy and laughter... even so, will He wipe them away, for us to see clearly !

May The Lord Be Pleased to Bless !

All of this was said to people in covenant with God for our admonition...

It may sound confusing for the Word says that only by grace are you saved.

It also says that not just by grace alone are you justified.
It says you will be judged for your works. (People will quickly say that we're redeemed from the Law, but we're empowered to do the works of the Spirit by grace.)
Jesus said your fruits determine your soundness.
Jesus said that only those who do the will of the Father shall enter in to the kingdom.
Believer's portions can be with the hypocrites.
We're told not to be deceived and God is not mocked. You will reap what you sow.
You can sow to the flesh or to the Spirit and their are fruits for each and they are listed as life and death.
We're warned outright that certain behaviors/fruits will NOT inherit the kingdom of God and not to be deceived.
(In other words, if you do them, you'll go to Hell if you don't repent.)
The carnal mind cannot please God and it is emnity to Him.
You have a blessing and a curse set before you and you are told to choose life.

Which of it is true? It's all true. You can't take any part of it out and formulate a doctrine. It all agrees.

I believe it's a continual work of grace for you to be born into the kingdom; for you to abide in the kingdom. Even the works you do reflect the work of grace in your life. You can do "kingdom" works like casting out devils and healing the sick, but if you don't walk in love, it's a dead work and He doesn't know you. We're told to keep His commandments and He equates that with loving Him. It's really quite plain. Even though repentance is thought to be changing your mind (God repented), in the New Covenant it implies that the changing of your mind means to turn to God and obey Him. As we do that, His grace works in our lives to bear abundant fruit. Jesus basically said that our fruit would be our barometer. You'll know if the tree is sound by the fruit it bears. We're told to abide In Him, in the light, in His love. If we do that, we'll bear fruit in plenty. If we're not, we can repent.

We should be focusing on doing what God tells us in our hearts to do and majoring on that and bearing good fruit.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matt 7:21

All believers struggle with something, is lying the thing you struggle with? The Lord can take that away, if you're willing to let it go.
Believer's are told that things will go a certain way if they're a child of God. When they don't, they either doubt their covenant relationship with God as a born again believer, or they think God doesn't love them or is holding something against them. (I was this way.) You can need deliverance and exhibit recurring sinful behavior with a "predisposition" toward sins that God is grieved about. This is because of the presence of demonic spirits. We as believers have authority over every work of the devil. Lying spirits do what their name suggests, they incline a person/or believer to want to lie. You typically establish this by being a party to deception, and then you become afflicted, until the oppression is broken from your life. First ask God to forgive you for the lies and purpose never to do them again. Then renounce the sin with your mouth and say: "I renounce every work of the devil, sin, and deception, and I take authority over every lying spirit in the name of Jesus! I give you no place. I submit to God and according to scripture I resist you, and you do flee, in the name of Jesus!" They have to flee. God watches over His Word to perform it. Make it a regular practice for every wicked inclination at work in your life, confess, renounce, and cast out in Jesus' name. This is regular warfare and EVERYONE picks this stuff up. It could be for rebellion for something God told you to do, but didn't; for drugs/sorcery, cursing, tobacco/addictive spirits, lust, and the list goes on. You must do this and if you don't it probably won't get done. Once you get free, don't go back to the sin or something worse will befall you. They'll bring 7 more. Make sure you have the Spirit of God abiding in you, by walking in the light.
Now, when the Spirit takes up residence in you, the power of sin is broken so you will not continue to deliberately or habitually sin.
Chris_G - Regardless of what anyone on this forum tells you, the bible clearly teaches that all born-again believers are saved and enter the Kingdom. This is fact! Anyone who says otherwise is teaching a heresy.
You can enter in and you can exit too (go outside the camp) based on the condition of your heart/defilement. We don't just enter in. We are told to "abide".

Chris_G - Some scriptures are hard to understand and difficult to accept, that's why Peter said, "He [Paul] writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction." (2 Peter 3:16).

Some may seem vague, but for the most part it is easy to...

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
Prov 8:8-9

Who knows, the whole judgement thing seems very complicated.

Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. <-----> 2nd Timothy 2:19

The question is not with God and His Ability... the question is with us and ours... whether we truly are as we think we are, or believe as we believe we believe. Or are we self-deceived... and being ultra confident /sure of oneself can be a symptom of self-deception.

A wise man fears, and departs from evil: but the fool rages, and is confident. <-----> Proverbs 14:16

The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason. <-----> Proverbs 26:16

But being totally insecure, isn't exactly reassuring either.

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. <-----> Hebrews 10:35

Sober minded hope comes to mind.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: <-----> 1st Peter 3:15

And this from a man who once swore up and down that he was ready to die with Jesus, only to deny him thrice before the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crowed twice...sounds like he learned a hard lesson, doesn't it ?!!

Thats what I start thinking. Am I deceiving myself thinking I have been saved? I did not even ask to be born and now people must put up with the thought of going to hell forever.

Can you please give us your testimony? How did you become a Christian? Are you still not reading the bible and sinning?

I wrote a poem about judgement day!

Enjoy

Oh Come, Glorious Judgement!

Judgement Day begins when you meet up with Jesus,
He will search out your heart completely,
dividing the sheep from the goat!

He will address your inner unlovingness with His love,
and chase the clinging coldness away,
from death setting your soul wholly free!

Truly Judgement Day, is a day of ecstatic joy,
freedom for all those hurting and killed,
Only His Loving Truth ruling your inner reality.

Bad religion shall no longer cause any bother,
As His loving joy now finds deeper root,
Lush growth replacing all the deadness!

Yet Judgement Day will be the end of your fear,
As no terror may travel on The Way,
All of you in union, praising the Lamb!

Your big I, gets new function in the rear,
Loving Jesus ruling as king in place!
You loving our Heavenly Father dearly.

In all your life's deeds The Son you'll meet,
Answerable for all that you have done,
In good and bad His truth visiting you!

Judgement Day is about being rightly placed,
good and loving upfront - to B(b)e -
all bad behind - passing away!

Thats what I start thinking. Am I deceiving myself thinking I have been saved? I did not even ask to be born and now people must put up with the thought of going to hell forever.

Well, if one who is yet in a mortal body is thinking their salvation is primarily something which has already occurred, as in "have been saved", then it does seem that some misrepresentation of the whole truth has occurred - for the biggest and the best parts of salvation are yet to come with Jesus' glorious bodily return !

The certainty of salvation in that day will manifest in the spectacular, undeniable, self-evident magnitude which will far exceed every other experience anyone and everyone has ever had in the heretofore.

The certainty of salvation at present, is that, whomever fully gives their life into The Lord's hands through faith and love for God + Jesus + the brethren, will be cleansed, forgiven, molded, shaped, strengthened, and established steadfastly into being exactly what is necessary to fit right in with God's Everlasting Kingdom of Righteousness, Peace , and Joy.

The potential for uncertainty at present is that our own human heart is prone to be deceitful, and it may try to tell us that we've already believed and given our life over fully into The Lord's hands - when in truth we have not.

This is why Peter was led to write :

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
<-----> 2nd Peter 1:2-11

In essence what this means - is that, if indeed we find the ability to walk in harmony with Christ's Spirit, consistently, continually bearing the fruit thereof, then such is a sure sign that our salvation is presently both real and effectual.

Yet, as ones who yet lack this holy consistency there is still hope that we can still seek and find it...but attempting to exude confidence in our own salvation without such a witness having been clearly established in our life, is premature and potentially a quencher of The Spirit, giving a sense of self-satisfaction where one does not presently rightly exist.

For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one deals falsely.
They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
<-----> Jeremiah 6:13-15

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou was cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knows not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou may see.
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
<-----> Revelation 3:15-19 ( Words of Jesus )

See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Rejoice evermore.
Pray without ceasing.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Quench not the Spirit.
Despise not prophesying.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it.
<-----> 1st Thessalonians 5:15-24

God's willingness + ability towards us are sure and steadfast.

Whether we are completely trusting and committing our life unto Him through Christ...that is what may be rightly questioned - especially if the holy fruit of The Holy Spirit is lacking.

And even as it is certain that whomever does trust The Lord unto obedience, will be gladly be welcomed into His Splendid Holy Presence, we are also told it is certain that those of us who do not - will not.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
<-----> Matthew 7:21-23 ( Words of Jesus )

Hope + pray this is helpful.

Wow. I can't believe how much this thread exploded.

At first, I didn't even get so much as a dim flicker of a response from anyone the first day or so.

Well, for me, the only thing I'm fairly certain on, and I don't have scripture for this, but it seems to make perfect sense....

Is that the after life will be much more real than anything we've ever experienced here on earth.

The small percent in which we use are brains, how we constantly tire or become distracted, self loathing, concern for others, etc., all of these things will be removed.

Even the thought of death being more real than this life has my mind my wobbled what this would even be like.

For me, I like to problem solve backwards.

Find the end solution, work your way back, then find the steps forward to get to where you've initially pictured.

God wants all of His children with Him, but sin, even so much as a small little speck, there's no chance that can even be near Him.

If I claimed toilet paper on March the 5th as a tax deductible expense... seriously? God could live with me for eternity after doing this, even when I was a Christian?

To me, God is so Holy that just writing this, I'm sinning in ways that I'm probably not even consciously aware of.

All this, I think, will be brought to light come judgment day.

I absolutely fear God. To the point, where yeah, I don't pray to Him, I don't talk casually about Him, almost nothing.

I see things that He has done and I'm so deeply thankful, but no, it's just Jesus for me.

I love Jesus. Wow. What He did and who He was and still is, amazes me.

To me judgment day will be the most terrifying event ever for all to see, that's the reason for the tears being wiped by God.

I just hope I'm carrying my Jesus pass on that day. :)

How's that? :)

God will wipe away the tears of the past. Old things will pass away and all things will be made new. We will be like Adam; Before he ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Unless you enter the kingdom of heaven as a little child you shall by no means enter. Ahh, to have the innocence of a child.
Being saved, going to heaven and entering the kingdom of heaven are 3 different things.
It is God's will that all should be saved and that none should perish. Yet, not all shall enter the kingdom.
Matthew 7: 21-23 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord', shall enter the kingdom of heaven,...."Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will delare to them, 'I never knew you;.....
I ask; to whom is Christ reffering? Are not many christians like saduccess and phariseess?

On the day of judgement you will be judged by every word you ever spoke. Not only that, But God will judge you with the nations and your generation.
Matthew 11:21-24

There is no escaping the judgement! All have fallen short of the Glory of God!
You may ask; Who then can be saved? It is by GRACE that we are saved; and not by works, lest any man should boast.

Peace unto you
Steve
