  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I had a disagreement with my brothers girlfriend about judging. A person placed a religeous statement on Facebook and she deposited it. One the religeous statement, it said, I am going to heaven. So I looked up this persons name, to see what type of person he was. Well, it turned out to be a drag queen site, with the guys name there. I looked through the photos with guys dressed up in every picture as woman, read some.... said come to the night club and others, said a test to see if one was gay.. So I posted on my brother girlfriends site, that this guy was a drag queen and evidently unsaved. She writes back, that she judges no man. I explain as a Christian we must judge sin and give the righteous judgement. That Paul informed the church of Corinthians to judge those inside the church. Was I wrong for judging him on behavior or not.

I don't know if you were judging, but trying to make an assessment. The Bible says we will know if a person serves the Lord by his or her fruit. Yes, we may not know for sure if a person is or not a Christian, but sometimes it can be quite evident a person is not serving the Lord by their actions. God bless.

In this case you are not using your own judgment, you are relaying the judgment of God on this matter. Based on what God has told us, we are able to recognize if somebody is on the path to hell. The thing we cannot judge is whether they will end up in hell when they die. We cannot predict their future and whatever happens will be based on God's judgment.

Making a statement of fact based on scripture is not judging someone. Judging someone is more like making an opinion based on gossip. I don't see anything wrong with what you did.

I believe that most gay people think they are going to heaven. I know they have their own churches and their own versions of the bible. However, I've never been to one of their churches nor have I read one of their bibles, but I've read about them having these things.

Just my opinion,

Alan

Yes, I came to the same conclusion. That I was not judging but merely stating facts off what the Bible states to be true.
The problem is that what the Bible states to be true is not necessarily how we interpret it.

Some ppl believe they going to heaven no matter what they do. Some religions teach heaven open for everyone. They may believe this but that doesnt make them christian.

I dont think its right to say whether or not a person is or isnt going to heaven just based on what they say on facebook. But you can say as a christian the only way to heaven is through Jesus, and that you hope that that person knows the Lord.

Jesus can save anyone, and if a supposed drag queen repents who are we to say God wont let them enter heaven? On our end we can say its not likely cos of what scripture says in Revelation of who is in heaven and who is outside the gates..but we dont know God can change anyones heart. Cos in our case (or mine) we used to be unbelievers too...and unbelievers are definietly outside of heaven.

No, you were not wrong to judge where the drag queen is at spiritually. I agree with you that such perverted behaviour clearly indicates that the fellow is not saved. What's more, you obeyed the command of Christ to "judge righteous judgement." (Jn. 7:24)

What is meant by my statement, was written by Paul. Don't be fooled, neither the homosexuals, abusers, greedy, ect will inherit the kingdom of heaven. This is what some of us were. Were is the keyword in this. We were homosexuals but now we have been cleansed. So Paul is saying a homosexual can be saved but there must be a change also. Change that indicates we admit our old sinful lives were wrong and now we live for Christ as the new man.

Too see someone fool themselves into thinking they are saved and lead a life back the way before being saved, is hard to believe. That whole Facebook page was on drag queens and nightclubs. Gay quizes. See if you are gay. This will not lead one to heaven. It leads one away from heaven. To not give a honest opinion of what I seen, would be to lie about it. Would be sugar coating something I know to be wicked to God. A man fooling himself. To turn him from error is the correct thing to do. You can't sugar coat sin. We must tell the truth or we will be dishonoring God. The truth hurt sometimes. But maybe this man will view his lifestyle and make changes to take the correct path too.

We all sin. Not one is not a sinner. Judging by mere appearance is wrong. From his Facebook page is mere appearance in someways but others see his page too. They assume that is correct behavior and thus follow him, verses following God. Alcohol is served at nightclubs. It is a public viewing place. This mere appearance could mean not to judge if he had accassionals photos of cross dressing photos, but all photos were of it. So it was like he was promoting the gay lifestyle verses promoting a Godly lifestyle. So with this, I considered him living that lifestyle but was claiming to be saved. We can't chose to live any way we desire and be a Christian. We are either for God or we are against God. We can't live a double lifestyle. So I gave a righteous judgement from it. No true believer would dare promote sin.

Two verses in the Bible that do seem to contridict. Judge not, that ye be not judged and judge righteous judgment. We know, they can't fight against one another. We also know that both are correct.

The way I look upon the first, judge not, that ye be not judged. I'm a sinner, we are all sinners. It's by God's grace, in faith in Christ alone that I have salvation. Take Christ from, even though I may do my best not to sin, I become a wretched man. It makes it so much easier to love my neighbor when I understand I'm on the same level he is.

The other verse, judge righteous judgement. In my understanding Jesus is the only righteous one. He is my righteousness. This verse brings me to the cross. It also helps me to recognized sin within myself. Helping me flee from that which is wicked.

That being said, if I we to encounter a man who professes Christ, yet was in open sin. I would give him the verses in God's word that confirms the sin. If he brushed them off, I may try one more time. If he persisted in his sin, I would give it to the Lord. Brushing the dust off of my own feet. Letting the Lord handle his sin.

In Christ

well, your brothers girlfriend the one who said don't judge, is the one that probably needs to read the Bible. But she may know that drag queen person personally and it might not all be what it seems. Otherwise I don't know why she would say that...she might have some sympathy for that person or the whole gay lifestyle thing. I don't know. She might belong to one of those liberal churches.

You can certainly tell her that according to God's word if he/she continues practising sin they definitely won't be going to heaven! And they being delusional. It just seems to me, that way...

you are not wrong, but I think its not worth getting into arguments about it. cos often times people really deep in their sin aren't going to listen, esp if you don't even know them.
