Just stumbled across this, Tell me what you think.

Our church is a Non, 501c3 btw

At 14 seconds the speaker explains that he has no clue what his is talking bout.
In plain language.

The interviewer lady claims that "I know they are not feeding the homeless!"
But the first two mega churches I checked, did have a food pantry and ministry for "the homeless". So she seems to have done no research on this topic either.

Answering The Call - Joyce Kahleh - Houston - Lakewood Church

Feb 9, 2018 - There are also opportunities to serve the homeless through our partnership with the Beacon Center and the Houston Food Bank.

The Intersect Project - North Point

Our partner organizations focus on the homeless or near-homeless and ... with rent, utilities, transportation, food, clothing, medicine, and other basic needs.

Mega churches aren't my thing either. Yet, it's more than a bit pretentious and well above his pay grade for this chap to be announcing how and whom God will judge. I suspect that is best left to God to decide. And the whole point about churches taking the bride of 501(c)(3) and his not entering a 501(C)(3), I find quite bizarre.

On the upside, this video is properly placed in the "Junk Drawer," in my opinion.

I attended a megachurch service last weekend (Lee Strobel was speaking). It certainly was a bit of a different experience than attending my neighborhood church (which averages between 50-100 attendees).

My perusal of the church's information showed that the church has just a myriad of ministries and community services. The church also sponsors at least a dozen overseas missions trips per year.

I think that there is a place for churches of various sizes within God's program. We may not all be the feet, but I'm not going to say to the feet ... "I have no need of you."

I know solid loving Christians who attend these churches. The prayer is they find their way out.

If here is judgement it will be the false teachers and deceivers running and leading the organization.

I attend a very large church. I wouldn't call it a "megachurch", but at close to 10,000 attenders, it's large. The beauty of a large church, assuming they stay true to the Word, is that they have resources to do a tremendous amount of good.

For example, our church sponsors an inner-city mission where we fund food/clothing pantries, buy school supplies, etc. We can reach overseas, too. For example, we've teamed up with another ministry partner and are rescuing small boys who are trapped as slaves in the fishing trade. We are teamed up with another ministry partner where we are rescuing girls from the sex trade. We provide drinking wells and supplies in needy countries. And coming back to the US we are ministering in four different prisons, and teaming up with other God-honoring churches to handle needs in our local communities.

There is just a whole ton of ministry that can be done if you have the resources, and I'm glad our church is big enough to have such resources and are using them properly.

The thing that stood out to me was the 501c3 which many church's utilize and how it is a way of eventual governmental control of the church. I agree with this statement.
When we were discussing starting our small church, Not one person voted for a 501c3 because it was being said that a minister may have to soften the Word of God to keep from offending people. Just like cake bakers here recently.
The Word is the authority and I refuse to have anyone tell me how to preach it other than the Holy Spirit.

Attendance over 1,000 is a mega church.

I find it weird that you'd think that 501c3 tax exemption gives government control over a church, since that tax exemption is part of a wall that separates church and state and keeps the state out of the affairs of the church here in the US.

I'd ask what you are talking about, but chances are I probably already have an idea and don't want to go there.

I understand friend and not everyone will agree with my churches views, but that is ok. We stand for God's Word and will not consider anything else.

We are old fashioned and primitive and that doesn't appeal to many :]

I mean, I doubt that too. This is what old fashioned church looks like:

No I disagree completely, The disciples and "the way" met in homes and they didn't have all that fancy imagery for one thing. Most were just poor common people.

I love you with the love of the Lord and pray for your leadership and ministry within the body of Christ.
Just a word of caution; be careful not to allow pride to creep in regarding the non-profit status of your church. With humbleness, pray for the leadership within the Body of Christ.

Thank you and we use every cent to bring God glory. I receive nothing for ministry and never have.
We use anything we receive to buy bibles and medicine and groceries and whatever mission we feel compelled to give to.
We never have much but we really use what we have even if it is buying diapers for a single mom. It all goes to something to help further the gospel.
We choose not to be associated with a government that recognizes sinful unions and removes the Word of God.

If Christianity were being done right, there would only be megachurches in cities where there were thousands of believers.

There would not be hundreds of different congregations in a large city as they are now, they would be one big congregation. It might rarely ever meet as one whole group--there would certainly be plenty of "small groups" within it--but every Christian in the city would be a member of the same congregation.

And that is a functional necessity, if the Body of Christ is to be what Christ called it to be:

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields...." -- Mark 10

That takes a megachurch.
