• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My nutritionist has recommended that I do that. I've heard that it helps too - I think I keep a pretty accurate record of that in my head, and it's changed a little during the course of treatment. He especially wants me to do that when I'm feeling the urge to binge. So I need to try that this week, actually getting pen and paper and writing it down instead of keeping a log mentally. :)

Hi, I would say that id go insane if i didnt write all my thoughts in my journal! I have kept a journal since i was 14, (im now 22) and every single day is accounted for. I think it helps so much, coz it helps me to understand where ive come from and how i feel now etc. also, when i look back i can see all of the times God has carried me, and it is encouraging, even if i couldnt feel it at the time. i strongly recomend you try it!

I think it's a good idea but I would never be able to do that. I guess that would mean that I would have in black-and-white what I do and don't eat, which would be very triggering to me. I would look over the day and if I had eaten anything, I would feel guilty and ashamed, and if I didn't eat anything, it would encourage me to do the same thing the next day.

But taking a step back, I can see how it would help identify certain foods with certain thoughts and feelings. I guess I'm just not at the point where I can overlook the food issue to be able to use it in my life. Deep down, I know some foods and the affect they have on me, I know what triggers me, but I am sure there are many feelings and thoughts I am not noticing or realising.

It's all very interesting. I hope one day I can implement it.

There's always the point that someone might find it too... I guess that puts me off, living in a full house...
