  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know if anyone posting on here is considering converting but i'll give you my two cents. I used to be a hardcore bible beating christian. Depending on your personality, you might realize you might not find all the answers you're looking for in Christianity. It can offer you everything the world has to offer, but you have to be content to stop looking for those answers and accept the ones the scripture can offer you. That always bothered me... It's hard to think for yourself. But the real point here, the most important thing, is your happiness. It's not for everyone, religion can help just as much as it can hurt sometimes. I hope you can find what makes you happy.

Actually Christianity offers almost nothing the world has to offer.Money, power, fame, greed, lliucit sex, drugs, sensual pleasure, depression, lonliness, sickness, despair, feelings of meaninglessness and hell;these are what the world has to offer.None of these things are available through Jesus, What He offers is eternal life living in a spiritual relationship with Him and His Father.Happiness in this worldi for His children is of no concern to God.When Jesus talked about sorrow, the only thing He said was that the sorrowful would receive rewards heaven. In fact the bible states,HE WHO LOVES THE WORLD IS AN ENEMY OF GOD.Just one statistic says it all.In 2003,the number of American child pornography web sites increased by 70%."Freedom" that some go overseas to kill for, sure is great isn't it?There is no question that accepting Jesus as one's'personal savior can hurt.In fact it can totally wipe out your sex life. But for those who follow the bible instruction to TAKE UP YOUR CROSS DAILY AND FOLLOW CHRIST,will receive an eternal joy whereas those who choose the ways of our completely perverted society, will receive eternal torment. You may have time to think about your decision for a few more days..

You just totally disgraced what i had to say in my effort to say un-biased. It isnt for everyone, or i still would be a christian. Sounds like a lot Jesus has to offer, i mean, ive been trying to get rid of my sex life for years!

I think what you had to say made a good point. I've come to see Christianity as man's attempt to organise Christ and therefore does fail those who are seeking to find happiness (blessedness). However Jesus has this way of "shrugging off" man's best and worst attempts to make Him what they want Him to be. Sometimes we have to keep looking past what men say and see what Jesus says. I think Jesus does have a lot to offer. In fact, I would go so far as to say Jesus has everything to offer. Of course if you're not looking for life, love and all things good, you may want to look elsewhere. ;)

take care

ps. just in case you change your mind about taking another look, try going straight to Jesus and bypassing "Christianity". :)

Scot, why do you seem so bitter about it? Was there some expectation you had that was not fulfilled in Christianity? Sometimes that is the problem we face, we expect things to change or get easier and as soon as we become Christian, sometimes what really happens is that things seem to get even harder. I look at this as the evil one's attempt at taking all he can from Jesus.

no. im pretty much done with christianity. Honestly, i feel my happiness is most important, and im more happy than i couldve been. Im a searcher, and i question til i find what i do not want to hear. I dont think you'll understand.

Scott, I hear what you are saying, it is human for our faith to waver at times or even seem to fade away completely. What I ask of you is that you don't close your heart completely to Jesus. It isn't about our happiness here on earth, this is no more than a drop in the bucket. I'd hate to see you find that you were wrong when it becomes too late for you.

I will be praying for you that God graces you with the ability to se Him and the love He has for you. :prayer:

Believe me Scott, whether you know it or not right now, He loves you and wants you to come home.

You are His special child, no one loves you as He does.

Scott, i have to tell you that while you are more than welcome to your opinion, that's all it is...your opinion. An opinion that is based upon the philosophy of 'me-ism'...me-ism goes something like this:

"Oh, too much is expected of me..."

"I want to rule my life, i don't want to be second in command in my own life...accountable to some God i don't even see"

"I'm happy as i am" (hmm)

"all this religion stuff does is make me feel bad about myself"

etc...

the point i'm making is that you state that you found happiness when you ditched Jesus basically...i just don't believe that it's possible... as for religion not being for everyone ~ well maybe that's true, not in the sense that you mean it though..Christianity, however, is for everyone! (if they are open to allowing the Lord to work in their live's, often revealing those things within us that cause us to want to run from Him). Perseverance is always rewarded, and it's never too late to kneel.

Then why bother searching, isn't it a waste of your time, i mean, there you are, really happy, without God, and you search for meaning, for answers...adamant in your stance of unbelief?

I have a theory...that those who search for answers can never be 100 % content.

I'll second that. Christianity is for everyone, and if you aren't happy in it, then you aren't doing something right. Even trials and tribulations should bring you joy.

James 1:2-3
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

Scott, no where does the bible promise us happiness. And Jesus said that we would have trouble in this world. The bible, as you know, teaches that worldly happiness and sin is only fun for a time. Psychology has found this to be true, those who work at me-ism eventually get disappointed. This is why so many people have mid-life crisis and feel that they have wasted their time. Look at King Solomon, the whole book of Ecclesiastes is about his midlife crisis. He persued money, knowledge, women, and what ever he layed his eyes on and wanted, he got. And in the end, he said it was "vanity of vanities". Even the wisdom that he had was vain, because he was no better off than a fool. And with increased knowledge came increased sorrow.

In the end, he discovered that the whole purpose of man was to fear, keep his commandments God.

Ecclesiastes 12:13
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
