Johnny Depp?

I am a male and I think Johnny Depp is a great actor, I've liked his work since Edward Scissorhands, I think that's the first thing I remember seeing him in. I can't wait to see what he and Burton do with Charlie and the Chocolate factory, they work great together. It's a pity when people let their politics get in the way of liking an actor (although what his says is true, and he's never been hateful).

But I was expecting a comment like this as soon as I saw the thread was about Johnny Depp, I knew someone would have to say something.

*chuckle* Of the many posters so far on this thread, 2 are male, 1 isn't showing their gender, and the remaining ten or so are female. Do you suppose this implies anything about Depp's popularity?

Benny & Joon, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Chocolat, Finding Neverland (still in theatres), POTC, From Hell (based on the Jack the Ripper murders), Blow, Secret Window, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Don Juan DeMarco, Sleepy Hollow, Donnie Brasco (there is "foul language" in this one as well as violence)

Totally agree. Benny and Joon is so cute (it's better if you're familiar with older movies because they do copies of some Charlie Chaplin stuff which is funny). Edward Scissorhands has THE best music by Danny Elfman. Don Juan DeMarco is just awesome. Depp is such a good actor....

I can't even think which is Depp's best role, but I think I'm more of a fan of Burton because I seem to really like the movies that he did with Burton.

It's kind of like the Spike Lee and Denzel Washington pairing, they're just great together.

I liked Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean, but truthfully, do not remember if I've seen him in other films... I don't think so. Anyway, I can't see him being anything other than a pirate right now. I'll have to go rent something else to see Depp act another way, and then I'll know if I like him as an actor or not. An actor cannot be judged on one part, I wouldn't think.

Pirates is the first an' only movie I've seen him in and he did really well, i thought. Everyone raves about Finding Neverland, and I really wanna see it... Maybe someday!

You mean you two haven't seen Edward Scissorhands? Before POTC that was and likely is his most known role. Although it doesn't even look like him in it. Benny & Joon is another one that is good, Sleepy Hollow, Chocolat.. etc. He's done countless movies - I think he's done over 30 now so there are a lot to choose from. But I am surprised that you haven't even seen Edward Scissorhands... I've loved that movie even before I realized who it was in it...lol
