John rutter

Anyone here like or know of john rutter, the british composer? If not, you should look him up, as a church choir director, i'd say his choral work is amazing. And before i became a director, i worked with him once at carnegie hall when i was in college, the choir i was in was in a mass choir under his direction. I just wanted to see who's heard of him or even done at least one of his arrangements

well, paul, if you have the time, look him up, he's a wonderful arranger. i directed an arrangement of his, that i learned in choir in college. by the suggestion of the accompanist, i directed it from memory. it's a beautiful piece, all things bright and beautiful

Yes...fantastic composer. I have adapted several of his choral pieces as organ preludes. One of my favorites is "For the Beauty of the Earth"...so melodic and great harmonies too.

i did that one with the choir i used to direct. i first did it in high school

Wonderful piece....love the modulations in it. Awhile back I created an organ arrangement out of "This is the Day"...which he wrote for the Royal wedding. Love that piece too but not as much as "For the beauty..."

Rutter's music is exquisite, but if he is a believer, he sure doesn't express it well in his testimony.
