• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

praise God!

I know that He is merciful and accepts everyone who comes to Him..even if a few moments before their death.

Thanks Monica,

yeah both my grandma and grandpa on my mom's side had late in life conversions. He began going on retreats and going to mass alot before he passed away. Her's was closer to the last minute.

Me, me, me - Lennon was a true egoist...so Christianity was never right for him anyway.

 dont most of us start out as egoists?? I was one, and sometimes still am.

Jesus came to heal the sick...forgive the sinners... Christianity is right for the lost. :)

I grew up on the Beatles, saw their first appearence on the Ed Sullivin show, thought they were the cutest guys on the planet and loved them BUT they were into drugs and what was called "free love" (sex) in my day. SP Lonely Heart's Club Band was an album heavily influenced by drugs. They had a huge influence on the youth culture both in positive and negative ways.

Did you know anything about the rumor in the late 60's and early 70's about Paul being dead?

PS don't get me wrong...I still love the Beatles...epecially early Beatles. Its too bad that only two of them are left.
Yes I did.."Is Paul dead?...maybe..." Bye the way. I know he's on the bottom list but keep him in your prayers?

He's been had (oh I'm so putting it mildly..thank you all and God Bless you ..He made mistakes....

The Beatles likely did have more influence on many of those coming to age in those years than Jesus was having on most of them. In retrospect the message that they shared with fellow rockers of drugs and sex and rock and roll may have left society a little better off if it had been countered a little bit more with Jesus.

Rock stars were the heroes in those days even more than musicians are now, and if the superstar Beatles dabbled in drugs, for example, that made drugs legitimate for many of the fans whose adulation of the Batles cam epretty close to worship at times.

But in the main, the Beatles weren't really the cutting edge when it came to carrying out the revolution.
Their songs were mainly nostalgic and sentimental or simple little love ditties, with the odd trendy causes thown in here and there.
Like all popular musicians the Beatles were damagogues. They sang what we all wanted to hear and made us feel good about what we were all doing anyways.

Post Beatles...John and Yoko...pretty cutting edge and pushing the envelope. Oh hey...the Beatles White Album had a big influence on Charlie Manson and the Family. Mainly the song Revolution #9 and did you know that # 9 backwards says "turn me on dead man."?

So silly ...after Strawbrerry Fields someone told John 'You said "I buried Paul" Then he said no.I said Cranberry Sauce!

They were just regular working-class lads who were incredibly gifted.. then..the media fabricated them into something they really didn't want to be .trust me on that ;) It's all a media illusion. I know them. Blah...

Well yeah, we do know that he did reject his faith but then again, nobody knows if the Lord did come to him as he lay there dying. There are very many death bed conversions that I have heard of. So we really can't say with certainty that he went to hell.
It was very traumatic for him when he died. There was NO DEATHBED! He was pronounced DOA at the hospital..He was thrown into the police car after being shot and died on the way to the hospital.

That's fuuny about the cranberry sauce! But when you play # 9 backwards, I have done it myself, you do hear over and over again, turn me on dead man every time it says "#9" forwards. What were the lads thinking?

Have to say BTW, it doesn't sound like he says "cranberry sause." its right at the end of strwberry fields as clear as day. whatever...

I thought that was about his earthly mom?
Maybe it's both but...

In my hour of darkness, Mother Mary comes to me, speaking the words of wisdom, let it be...

It just too spot on theologically speaking form a Catholic perspective for it to NOT be about the Mother of God.

Wisdom is a reference to Jesus who is Divine Wisdom itself.. Mary indeed comes to us in times of need, speaking the words of Jesus, saying, let it be done to us according to His word.
