Hello! This Bible study is a good idea. Thank you Dathen for coordinating this.

I used the New King James Version this time.

Chapter 7 is mostly about all the debate concerning Jesus and his teachings.

The beginning of Chapter 8 is the story of the woman caught in adultery. The rest is the Pharisees interrogating Jesus,

Chapter 9 is about when Jesus healed the blind man on the Sabbath and the uproar that followed.

I have to say that Chapters 8 & 9 were my favorites to read, especially the story of the woman caught in adultery. I think that this chapter really exemplifies the compassion and love that Christ had for everyone, however sinful they might be.

Right now I got to go to sleep but Ill post more later on.

John 7:5
For even His brothers did not believe in Him.

Not all of Jesus brothers believed. So there's no such thing as standing up for your family.

John 7:8 and elsewhere!
You go up to this feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come."

Time was very important in Jesus life.

John 7:52
They answered and said to him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”

Prophets don't come from Galilee. Talk about discrimination!!!


The earliest and most reliable manuscripts as well as other ancient witnesses do not have John 7:53 to 8:11. So where does it come from then. It's a well known story of the prostitute.


John 8:32
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

John 8:51-52
Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.”
Then the Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon!


Eternal life is so unknown to those Jews that teaching it makes you demon possesed

John 8:58-59
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Claiming to be better than Abraham almost got Him stoned

John 9:1-4
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. Imust work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.

People were born lame just so Jesus could heal them????

John 9:6
When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.

Lucky the man couldn't see bacause he'd think that's discusting. Though he wouldn't care if it healed him.

John 9:25
He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
