Hi
Just reading this for the first time ever, I'm a beginner but felt an overwhelming sense of meaning and power from this section, St. John chapter 14-16
Can anyone summarize these sections ?
Why did they have such an impact on me, as if I can't breathe?
Also what is the meaning of chapter 15 verse 2 "every branch in me..."
Thanks!!

Christ's crucifion, resurrection and ascention preparing the way to bring us into a union with Him as the abiding Spirit. 14-16 are particularly about the indwelling of life for building up His habitation.

But I'm sure He just told you that Himself. :)

No; too much and too rich.

The Christian Standard Bible (CSB) translates that verse well: Every branch in me that does not produce fruit he removes, and he prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit.

This is saying that Christ will reject people without fruit.

Christians with fruit will go through a "pruning" that will cause them to be more spiritually fruitful.

What is "fruit"? Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that it includes
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

There's also a play on words here which is picked up in John 15:3 ("
You are already clean"): the verb "to prune" (kathairō) also means "to purify or make clean."
