Creflo Dollar? Joel Osteen? What's next? Joyce Meyer, T.D. Jakes and Gene Scott? Have you hit your head recently?
PM me we've gotta talk. T.D. Jakes is guilty of some of the worst hermeneutics I've ever heard. I heard an audio clip from one of his services or maybe it was one of his amazon women conferences, where he has the whole congregation shouting "So?". Why? Because when the world has a problem with you, as a believer in Christ you are to say "So!" Based upon the scripture of:Why? I love Joyce and I like Jakes. Never heard of Scott. Most of all, I love my own pastors. They tell it like it is--plainly, and challenge me to live for Jesus in this dark world.
milk.....pablum.....meat....
these as most stick to the milk....
I consider things like sin, and repentance and faith in Christ for the forgiveness of sins to be basic teachings of the Christian faith, milk. Joel doesn't talk about either because he considers them to be, downers. He'd rather inspire people and make them feel good. He has said this, I'm not projecting this upon him.milk.....pablum.....meat....

I was suspicious of Ted Haggard because he smiled so much. Never trust a man that smiles that much. Looks like I was right to have my suspicions of him.I find it very hard to trust someone who blinks as often as Joel Osteen.
I would feel better about what Joel Osteen does if he supported his positive affirmations of other people with scriptures. I can't recall ever hearing one scripture mentioned in the sermons I have examined by him. For instance, in his sermon "You Can Be Somebody's Miracle" we'll ignore that this is the wrong use and understanding of the word "miracle" for now, if he had backed up this teaching with some scriptures, it would have been a good sermon. It doesn't have to be law and gospel all the time, he's not Lutheran after all, hehehehe. But it would have been a good idea to support what he's saying with the scriptures. Plus, he could have easily used the bulk of that sermon as a springboard to talk about the gospel in a different way. He could have said that when we were born-again we got this new nature and with this new nature comes a desire to serve our fellow human being in love. If you've heard the sermon you'll see how that ties in. His sermons aren't the worst I've ever heard, and with a little scriptural support they could be good, for what they are.I make my judgements on the messages. Joel Osteen is simply a motivational speaker for hire - same as Tony Robbins with "God" splashed in it here & there.
He writes books & sticks any verses way in the back so people don't have to read them if they don't want to.
His interviews were dismal & told me alot about how he values HIS message and God's words. God is a secondary message for him, his main message is PC new age humanist philosophy full of positive affirmations of looking forward to blessings... "if you just stick it out a little longer".
NO MEAT.
Worse, his messages are the same rehashed pep rallys just with different topics. How anyone can even listen to that regularly is beyond me
That's your opinion??Well, no, the born again experience is when you actually receive the Spirit, evidenced by speaking in tongues (John 3:8, Acts 2:4, 33, 39).
The world can teach a message of being nice to people, expecting positive things, and keeping a positive outlook. But if it not shown "why" these things are so, it is nothing but dust in the wind.
It might be simplistic of me to say, but if it doesn't get "bloody" at some point, it ain't a Christian message. People have to know how badly they needed it, and what the cost was for it.
Then, OK. Blink a thousand times a minute, smile constantly, and tell my brothers and sisters that everythings gonna be OK.
