New to these forums, Hello. The Lord used Joel Osteen to wake me up from a back slidden state. It's important to remember we do not all have the same gifts. Joel Osteen is not an evangelist he is an encourager. I would suggest that there might be some uniformed opions here, just from the little I've read. Osteen quotes Scripture every sermon. I you subscribe to his newsletter you will find that he uses scripture in it daily.
This isn't to parallel Osteen, but Satan used scripture too.
Honestly, we're just accepting everyone just becuz they use God's name anymore.
The man couldn't even admit Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God in his tv interview!
He Hm'Haw'd around at everything significant in beliefs becuz he just couldn't bring himself to "condemn" people... sorry, but he couldn't even claim the gospel in his interview.
He later had to apologize for his mess, but he still cant' do it.
And then go look at his books, he shoves any scripture in the BACK, as if it's the least important thing.
My brother is an Asst. Pastor - went to seminary for years, etc. and he watches Osteen and has often commented about how he misuses the verse to suit his sermon rather than what it really means in its context.
He's an encourager.... but so is Oprah.
There's more to this than just "he isn't a Pastor"... he's IN a pastoral position, and this is the diet he feeds his poor flock. If I lived on that in real life and it was real food, I'd be in the hospital if not dead.
Sorry, I have no praise for the man's preaching or inability to preach truth at all, but I will agree with 1 thing,
God CAN use anyone.
But it does not mean that if God uses someone, they're
OF God. God uses evil and darkness and even phariseical people to lead people to light.
He uses anything & anyone to bring messages. No doubt this is why people become confused when it comes to people who claim Christianity.
