CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is a joke right? Trump saw a spike in border crossings and created a humanitarian crisis, while stifling legal immigration. Meanwhile he deported less, and the illegal population dropped by less than it did under Obama. And he did nothing to solve the root problems, just like previous administrations.

We are not talking about root problems. We are talking the border. The root problems are not for us to solve.
And if you are talking immigration reform, that's not the president's job. That congress that passes immigration law.

Trump had it right. You have to fix the border first. Deporting people doesn't do any good if they can just come back. When you are allowing the number of people in that Biden is allowing then deporting is rather useless.

Idk about having saved “American democracy”. He stopped Trump and that needed to happen but the threat to democracy is still ongoing and I don’t think this administration really takes it as seriously as they maybe should.

He did a lot towards that. However the Democrats fought him every step of the way and once Bid n was in office he ended all of Trumps stuff. He was trying to fix the border.

No we didn't. Those countries have had problems forever. We've been all through this on other threads. It's a favorite thing for the left to say "well we caused the problems". The truth is those problems existed before we did a thing. An honest look at history will tell you that. We got involved in some places and didn't really make matters better, but we didn't cause the problems on why people are coming here either.

About all he did was add some agents. He didn't stop crossings, he blew billions are pointless walls, some of which fell down or did literally nothing. He separated kids from their parents needlessly. He was worse than nothing.

Yeah, we all know how you leftists feel. But Trump saw an unprecedented surge that no one was prepared for. And he did something about it. Yet was criticized all day everyday for it by you guys.

Trump saw a surge and clamped down on LEGAL immigration, making the problem even worse.
We don't love having illegals, we just don't want them to be illegal. We should open up more legal immigration to those from our hemisphere.

Right you want everyone who wants to come here to be allowed to come here. Far too many leftists want open borders. How many times have I heard it said? "There are no illegal people."
In order to to not have them be illegals you have to do away with immigration law.
