It looks like an "Abner Chou" has inherited the position of President of John MacArthur's Master's University in Santa Clarita, California. I am currently watching a sermon of his on God's conversation with Job out of the whirlwind...

4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; - Job 38

How much predestination did God have in mind when laying the foundations of the world? Hmmm... That ought to be an interesting sermon anyway.

Does it matter at all for anyone ?
I would also think, as the times of "the fulness of the Gentiles be come in" that it also, due to the predestination of the times, a great time to be Messianic!

For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. - Romans 11:25

Was there any time, any place, when it was better not to follow Jesus ? Not to abide with and in Jesus ? I don't think so, even with much persecution and martyrdom it is always best to stay with Jesus , right ?

It looks like an "Abner Chou" has inherited the position of President of John MacArthur's Master's University in Santa Clarita, California. I am currently watching a sermon of his on God's conversation with Job out of the whirlwind...
Hello Rockytopva, I believe the sermon that you included is one from a couple of years back, which is about the time that Dr. Chou was finally hired as the 4th President of TMS (after spending a year as its interim president). I also recognize him as one of the LSB's principal translators (I believe that he was a Greek professor).

How much predestination did God have in mind when laying the foundations of the world? Hmmm... That ought to be an interesting sermon anyway.
Does Dr. Chou mention "predestination" in the sermon that you posited for us in the OP? I ask because I when I jumped around a bit and listened to several parts of it, I found him talking about both the text of Job 38, and a number of different topics, as well, but "predestination" was not one of them.

Perhaps I missed it, however? If you know where he teaches about that topic (predestination, that is), could you point it out to us (I'm not sure if I'll be able to listen to the entire sermon, at least not before the new year anyway, so that would be helpful).

Thanks!

HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

God bless you!!

He did mention something about being Calvinistic. My main focus here was what God had in mind when establishing the foundations of the world.

In general? In regard to predestination? Something else?

Chou's sermon (after skimming it anyway) seemed to be principally focused on Job's personal relationship with God (and more specifically, what it should have been like instead of what it was like, at first anyway), so I'm not sure how it and your OP topic relate.

I'll listen through the whole of it as soon as I'm able to and comment if I think that I have something to add to the thread (in regard to the Chou sermon, or just in general). It is an interesting topic to consider, so thanks for that :)

God bless you!!

Even though I am not Calvinistic I have always enjoyed the John MacArthur sermons.

As I have always been interested in the John MacArthur sermons, and as my meditations have been on the Book of Job, my main focus here is... How is this new guy, Abner Chou, going to handle the Book of Job and predestination? Also read the OP in which I say, "How much predestination did God have in mind when laying the foundations of the world? Hmmm... That ought to be an interesting sermon anyway." Not knowing how Abner Chou was going to handle this.

Based on the provided search results, here is a comprehensive answer to the query “John MacArthur exposed”:

Scandals and Controversies

  1. Covering up sexual abuse: John MacArthur has been accused of protecting a child abuser, David Gray, and shaming his wife. This has led to allegations of a pattern of covering up sexual abuse within his church.
  2. Lavish lifestyle: Despite preaching against the prosperity gospel, MacArthur has been criticized for his own lavish lifestyle, including a multi-million-dollar mansion.
  3. Political influence: MacArthur has been accused of using his platform to promote political agendas, including supporting Donald Trump and criticizing Democrats. This has led to concerns about his church’s political neutrality.
  4. Ecumenical ties: MacArthur’s church, Grace Community Church, has been criticized for its ecumenical ties with non-Christian organizations and its participation in the Church Growth Movement, which has been linked to liberal and occult influences.

Theological Criticisms

  1. Denial of the blood of Christ: MacArthur has been accused of teaching that the blood of Christ is only symbolic, rather than literal, which is seen as a departure from traditional Christian doctrine.
  2. Heretical teachings: Critics have accused MacArthur of promoting heretical teachings, including the idea that Christians cannot vote for Democrats due to their supposed immorality.
  3. Lack of biblical discernment: Some have criticized MacArthur for failing to discern and correct false teachings within his own church, allowing them to spread and influence his congregation.

Leadership Concerns

  1. Authoritarian leadership style: MacArthur has been accused of having an authoritarian leadership style, which has led to concerns about his church’s autonomy and the potential for abuse of power.
  2. Lack of accountability: Critics have argued that MacArthur’s leadership is not accountable to his congregation or other Christian leaders, leading to a lack of transparency and potential for abuse."
It is hard for me to get into anything American these days. My main source of devotions have been out of India. Especially Zac Poonen... CFC Daily Devotions - Zac Poonen

The last two minutes in particular are very worth seeing/ reading if there's a text of it.

The first two minutes or so that I saw were not necessarily great or true, but may be where he lives necessary. Not a deal breaker. I watched zac some times in the last year or two , and found at least parts of his message(s) Scripturally accurate and good to give place to. Better than usa or most others.

Jesus is in India, :) , and may be present where two or three are gathered in His Name, in line with and in obedience with His Word. i.e. read continually the Bible straight, and always asking the Father for His Bread to us (Jesus to us). (wisdom, understanding, HIS Meaning).

Dr Satish Kumar... Whose church in India went from 25 to almost 400,000... Claiming that in order to journey to a more promised place we must escape the clutches of [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]tim...
And Israel abode in [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]tim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. - Numbers 25:1-3
