  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

However, know, is not the issue as, heard, be what was expressed:

It would appear if one is able to refer to something, they have indeed heard of it, even if they might not know the thing itself.
I won't respond to any further goading. Move on.

Both denying that extremist Islamist violence has anything to do with, er, Islam and opposing Brexit are, in general terms, progressive causes.
But who actually does the former? We can argue all day about whether or not Islamism is a perversion of Islam or the literal application of it, but we can't argue about whether or not Islam is involved. It obviously is.

People will state quite frequently that Islamic terrorism/ISIS/whatever has "nothing to do with Islam". Obama has stated outright that ISIS, for example, isn't even actually an Islamic group, and others make claims to similar effect following acts of Islamic terror.

'Islamic terror has nothing to do with Islam' is an absurd statement, but we all know why the world's leaders toe that line.

TERRORIST.png

Michael Adebowale has mental health issues but that barely made a dent in the news cycle whereas Thomas Mair's possible mental illness is highlighted.

"The problem, unfortunately, is a deep-rooted one with a clearly emerging double standard in our society for comparable crimes committed by Muslims and others, not only in reference to how the perpetrator is portrayed (terrorist vs loner; Islamist vs mentally deranged), but rather the way in which the associated communities are impacted after every similar incident....

Despite Thomas Mair’s far right views and admittedly political motivations for committing the murder of Jo Cox,12 he has not been labelled as someone who ascribes to a terrorist ideology or as a terrorist by any mainstream media outlet so far. Rather, he has been somewhat let off with milder descriptions such as ‘a loner’ or ‘mentally ill’ the latter even implying a sympathetic undertone.13 Despite there being concrete evidence of his far-right links and views, and even his naming of ‘Britain First’ during the course of the attack, there has been no outcry in the media or society for a categorical apology and explanation from that organisation, or any other far right group for that matter. Despite his clear pro-Britain and anti-immigration stance, there have been no demands of leaders from within the ‘Leave EU’ campaign to come out and explicitly condemn the crime, or otherwise be seen as complicit to his views and actions. Neither do I expect Prime Minister David Cameron to look for political point-scoring opportunities by condemning Thomas Mair’s neighbours for their glowing portrayal of him as ‘quiet and polite’ just as he conveniently condemned CAGE Research Director Asim Qureshi for daring to remember Muhammad Emwazi (Jihadi John) as ‘a beautiful young man’ prior to his being radicalised.14 15 Working class white members of society, or supporters of the ‘Leave’ campaign will not have to live in police protection for fear of being apportioned blame or attacked for sharing Thomas Mair’s far-right ideology, or even choice of attire for that matter. And lastly, they will certainly be able to go to their local grocery store and buy a pint of milk without any threat of violence or abuse."

The report, from the Royal United Services Institute think tank in London, says that 94 people were killed and 260 injured in attacks carried out by right-wing extremists across Europe between the start of 2000 and the end of 2014.

That compares with 16 deaths and 65 injuries caused by religiously inspired lone wolf attacks.

Lone right wing extremists 'kill and harm more people than lone Islamist terrorists'
Almost all of those came from Breivik, interestingly enough. Without him the numbers are comparable, and when you don't focus exclusively on lone wolf attacks (presumably because you think it makes your religion look less dangerous than it is), Islamic terrorism proves to be far deadlier.

I was very impressed by his dignity and bravery. He was clearly distraught, especially when asked about what he would tell the kids as they are up etc. Which is completely understandable.

In some countries in europe she would have been asked to stand down, as calling people nazis, when you are an MP is not allowed . And I have worked in the Uk with immigrants and on one occasion on the bus to an anti -racist demo I wakened up ,as the men ,the Moslem men, were so sexist and threatening ,I was disgusted by myself for being so naive ,.And then ,when we got to London , whole areas taken over by migrants from Moslem countries . There was no room for the locals, and I remember seeing an old lady with a little home made poster begging to be saved from the surrounding immigrants who wanted rid of her . Since then I have recognised the hatred for the local people that is a feature of left politics , while they, the comfortable whites live as far away as possible ,as they do in Sweden .

I'm sure the Bible says something about whether it is OK to lie or not.

Can you remember what it was, it's slipping my mind at the moment?

While thats true, it is important to analyse lone-wolf attacks, from a security perspective, because they are the hardest to prevent.
