Yes, it does lol. Our first 3 years were scary but one reason we made it is because we made every Thurday night 'date night". And date night could be grabbing food at McDonalds and sitting on his bed watching a movie...or it could be going to a restaurant and eating...we never did have one romantic date lol. But that was fine with me then...I was just happy someone was paying attention to me, at that point. NOW we don't date every week but we still do go on dates. Usually sharing a 5 scoop ice cream somewhere lol

lol u guys sound awesome though :D

His dream wedding colors are special too. When I was helping my roommmates plan their weddings, I asked him what he wants his colors to be and he said "blue and silver." I thought that was just so pretty! Blue is my favorite color, so I started picturing matching themes for each season... until I asked him why he chose blue and silver. He said "Because those are the colors of Gondor."

I have been reading all the posts, wow, interesting.

I have a question for BB, what the heck does the Hobbit have to do with a marriage proposal and who is the Hobbit?

Tins, I am sorry your proposal was not more romantic, but I can tell you, I have NEVER had a romantic proposal, compared to mine, yours was equal to Errol Flynn. (a very old, romantic movie actor) I mean, why can't men understand that we ladies thrive on that kind of attention. It may not be something to build a marriage on, but I tell you, it sure helps if you are angry with him to be able to look back to those days, it could very well help save the marriage. True!!

I can't begin to even count the numerous, romantic things I use to do for Steve, little cards, notes, lots of emails, (with the internet, there is really no reason to NOT send little love notes and e-cards), but does he reciprocate, not at all. I have literally begged him to send me an "I Love You" email or e-card, but no, he does not do it, oh, he may have once or twice, but then stops. Before we got married, he sent lots, but when we started having our fights and I did not think we would even meet, that stopped and after we met, got married, etc, it all went to heck in a hand basket. Fellows, show love to your wife, everyday, in some small way, let her know she is "special"; as I said, with the "net" you can do it anytime and not spend money. Little emails, cute "I love you" pictures, cards, man, they mean more to us than you can ever imagine. Take it from a "senior citizen" LOL, I know.

True, us gals can change in a second if a comment is hurtful or not to our liking, but that is how we are made, and if we were not made differently from you guys, well, I doubt if you would be attracted to us, LOL.

Tins, my dear parents had a "date night" every week, usually on Tuesday as that was when mom had off from work, and when she retired, it still was "their" day. I remember I would usually go to my aunts house or somewhere out of the way. It was their "special night" it almost always ended up being "romantic", that is why their marriage lasted over 60 years.

Steve and I never have a special night, he does not seem interested in one either. It is sad. I remember one night, I was playing some of my pretty Henry Mancini records, he was sitting with me, I told him he could put his head on my lap and enjoy the music, he did and it was a very enjoyable evening. Well, I told him how much it meant to me, and do you know, he refuses to do it anymore, nope, will not sit with me to listen to music, will not cuddle on the couch, all because I told him how I liked it. I have learned to not say what I like, if I do, well, we will never do it again. It hurts. So you see, Tins, you are most fortunate that your husband and you do these nice little things together, how I wish we did.

Anyway, I will get off my soapbox, bottom line, treat your wife/husband the same way you did when you met and dated, do not take them for granted, they all still need to be told that they are loved and special, just because you have that piece of paper and ring, it does not give you license to stop what brought you together in the first place.

James and Rebecca, I said a prayer for you, hope you feel better soon, no fun being sick.

^_^ That's so typical ^_^

Hubby wanted green and silver...so I did purple, green, and silver...he liked that just fine ^_^
*sigh* we had no colors, I was lucky to even have a wedding, I don't count the Las Vegas one, and the one here was only for show, so his family and friends could attend, it was sure not a dream wedding for me. I was so depressed after, I gave my dress to the Salvation Army, I did not want to remember it. I still do not feel married. I mean, I do not like the idea of a woman minister, and she is not even ordained, she is just a celebrant. Oh well.

Who the heck is Gondor???????

We didn't really dress the church up much...you can't really see my theme...but here was my church (at the time it was where I went to church)...yes, they had PINK carpet

Our cake...the ruffle thing on the bottom I didn't want, but some grandmother on his side INSISTED we MUST have it on our cake...so we did.

Our hands over my boquet...the theme ended up being purple, green, and white...lol

Wow, Tins, what a BEAUTIFUL wedding, my idea of a dream wedding for sure. Now, if I had been allowed to have a wedding like yours, I would surely been more happy.

Our wedding was probably around $1500...I paid for most of it myself. I bought my dress from some random page from China...it actually fit me perfectly...then the decorations and stuff I bought online from Oriental Trading Post. The flowers were real though, I insisted on that. The food cost the most.

It was a good wedding...I would have booked a bigger place than my church's downstairs for the reception because it was 97 degrees and we were cramped in there like sardines. Well, more people came than we thought would come lol...we expected 80, got 120...oops ^_^

In some way though I wish I'd just had a little JP wedding.

1500, you did good Tins...and your wedding looked awesome...

Susie, oh yeah 50 thou, that's crazy...that was when she was rich, now she's with me lol...

Our anniversary is Nov 27...that's my dad's birthday too...so that way figured one day when he's gone, Nov 27 can still be a good day even with the loss of Dad...

Our $10 wedding was almost free though...but Dawny said "Aren't you gonna pay the man" and in my mind was like "AHHHHHHHHHH!" I could have got a videogame lol

I got my dress online, it, too, came from China, even after I sent the correct measurements, etc, it did not fit well, so, I had the seamstress here do a lot of alterations, I still did not like it, it sure was not my dream dress, so, as I said, it got sent to a thrift store after. I still do not want to see it anymore, too many sad memories.

My flowers were artificial, I kept them, at least they look nice in the vase they are in. I wanted carnations, but could not find any, geesh.

I do not know how many came to ours, probably 60, I dunno.

I would hate getting married by a Justice of the Peace, I sure would not feel married, I mean, as I shared, we got married by his friend, Sarah, who is a celebrant, and I still do not feel married, probably never will.

Well, dear ones, before I depress you to death and myself as well, I am going to sign off. It is a lovely day, trees are all in full leaf, and I need to walk and get over this dang depression I woke up with, the dogs are rearin' to go as well.

Have a nice Sunday evening, see ya later. Sorry for sounding so negative in the posts, I did not plan to, but, it sort of ended up that way. Seems that anything pertaining to marriage and such, really triggers sadness and now my tummy even hurts, I hate that.

See ya:wave:

Jimmy, we are only three days apart, that is neat.

 Susie...I think it's not about the wedding or anything, I think it's because of the person...because if you were really happy with the marriage, you wouldn't have minded a JP...I know many people who were married like that, still happy, because it's really not about how you get married but who you get married to...sorry it's so hard on you

I had fake flowers for my center pieces and all of that but real ones for my boquet and the corsages.

Well, see, it was suggested we could pay the guy...I had an extra $10...but see, I hear 'suggested' which to me means I don't have to pay him...so we were almost out the door when she reminded me of paying him lol
