I am, Rebecca. He was self-taught too. He learned to play on a ruler first, the fingering, etc, then, he saved up money and bought a "Selmar" I think that is the name, and started by playing in small, high school groups, then, when he got older, he played in local bands, then with radio stations, they with the Clyde McCoy band. LOL, I can hardly play the stereo even. HeHeI bet she would be great too! Susie it is awesome that your dad was a big band musician. I would be so proud
That would be neat if you could find it, would love to hear it. Do you remember the name of it by any chance?
Wow, that is awesome. It is so interesting to hear some of them, I think they still sound good today,.No I don't...I just know it was a march of some sort...I can remember a very small portion of it...maybe...but it was a march that was almost more like rag time, so I might be confusing my memories with the rag time. I have a TON of old music somewhere in some storage bins upstairs. I should go through it again. I have some that's from the early 1900s!
We have so many faults in this area along. There is one that runs along the walk where I take my dogs, I often think about it.Fault....*smax head*
I would love to hear you play some of them.Susie, I have a couple of smooth jazz books around here, I imagine I could pull one out and play a couple of the pieces and upload them for you
I don't like jazz with singing normally, but I like to sing jazz sometimes...weird...like Fly Me To the Moon...don't necessarily love Frank Sinatra's version of it but my voice does that song so perfectlyFunny because I think most people don't know I can sing that kind of genre.
I would love to hear you play some of them.
LOL, I am more into instrumentals myself. Some vocals I do like, such as Mel Torme and Frank, but for the most part, I am an instrumentalist. I would love to hear you sing, "Fly Me To The Moon" that is a great song.
Neat song, Tins.
You would probably like to listen to the youtube I posted, it is really one of the best I have heard in ages, relaxing and beautiful.I love jazz too, one of my favorites. I like all types of music, just don't listen to hard rock as much as I used to. It sure ministers to some folks though!
That is fine, not many can sing acapella, that is a talent in itself.I'll have to do that for ya soon
It would probably be acapella lol
