  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So I've been wondering who on here frequently posts in denominational specific threads?

Not me...but I'm one of these people that...I'm very simple when it comes to my spirituality. Sometimes I will poke my head into the Pentecostal area, since I belong to a Foursquare church and all, but most of the time the stuff goes way over my head.

Oh cool Foursquare! I got rebaptized in a Foursquare church in "96. I used to always listen to Jack Hayford. Once when I when to a men's retreat they flew him in to give a talk!

I love my church for the most part. It has taken some time for me to get used to churches. I was raised in an extremely strict almost-cult that did not even have pastors...just elders. It was really strange...extremely fundamental, strict Christians. So a church was "evil"...took some time but now I love it. I love the diversity of people I see in church on Sunday mornings. I love the simplicity of the gospel that they present there...I mean they do preach some "meat" too but they are so life focused, like focusing on real life living and walking with God...it's really cool.

Our pastors was a great communicator. Sometimes during the sermon he would say something that would just blow my mind. The denom also recognized his gift and ended up offering him a position with the Foursquare world missions.

That is really cool! Is he still in the world missions?

One thing I really like is that they often send their leaders to their churches. We had the president of Foursquare International visit a few weeks ago. He is a GREAT guy and he welcomed us to add him on his personal Facebook. I was even able to email him with some of my concerns, which he seemed to take seriously. Recently we also had one of the world missions leaders here, and our regional superintendent. I'm glad that they have folks checking up on us so often. Helps keep things in line and also makes them feel reachable.
