I have a friend that used to pick banjo for him, and Brian (my friend) quit, because he did not think he was good enough to play with Jimmy's band. Brian was better than most that picked the 5 for Jimmy, and now heads his own group called:
The Not Too Bad Bluegrass Band

Will be remembering Jimmy, in my prayers.

GOOD NEWS!!

Doctors have told Jimmy that his cancer problem is over. He is finished with all his radiation treatments and chemo and feeling much better. He is looking forward to playing the rest of his show dates and seeing you all at the festivals. Thanks to all of you who have written, sent emails and called during this very difficult time. Jimmy says he could not have made it without your support!

Jimmy Martin, like many others in that old-time school, has set standards in bluegrass that others playing today only dream about. You can hear him in concert (with Bill Monroe, Jim and Jesse, and others) on the "Bean Blossum" CD's. Great Music!

Matt -- I grew up 20 miles from Bean Blossom, and I was there when those recordings were made.

Good Lord -- where did the years go????? One of the last ones I remember being at was the 1979 album they did.
