I could some advice on book buying. I've been looking at a new work coming out on Logos by Jim Rosscup, an Exposition on Prayer. It seems his reputation is outstanding among students at Master's Seminary. I'm looking at his stuff for the first time and wondering if it would be a wise addition to my personal library. Currently their prepublication offer is $159 for his complete works of expositions on prayer throughout the entire Bible. Anyone think it's a good choice? I also heard he's a dispensationalist and I'm not really fond of getting too much dispensational material, but I can't imagine that a work on prayer would be steeped in dispensational theology.

Also, I currently have a good collection of commentaries (Boice Commentaries, Calvin, Spurgeon Sermons, New American Commentary, Word Biblical Commentary, John MacArthur Commentaries, Charles Simeon Horea Homeletica, Daily Bible Study Series, Pulpit Commentary, IVP Bible Backround Commentary and a few others that come with Libronix Logos Scholar Silver). However, I have nothing that's focused on prayer. His work on prayer seemed like something extra special since it addresses something that is largely a weekness or struggle for many Christian's including myself. And seeing that prayer is our communication with God, it is surely a very important subject! I thought it might be very beneficial to improve my prayer life by learning through the Sciptures with a man who is professed to be THE MAN to learn from these days for prayer. So many students are stating that their encounter with this man was life changing. WOW!

On the other hand, I don't know if his written work is really even close to taking his class, and so perhaps his written work is a little overrated. I have some Christmas money that's set aside for Bible related stuff. Perhaps I should use my money for something else such as Pillar Commentaries, Bibleworks 7 upgrade, BDAG / HALOT, IVP's new Ancient Christian Commentaries, Kent Hughes Commentary, Luther, Theological Journals volumes 6-10, or AW Pink Collection. Yeah, I have a list like that in my head! What do you think? I can surely use some counsel.

If anyone is reading this and wants to learn more about Jim Rosscup's Exposition on Prayer, here's a few links.
