Jim Morrison and The Doors

I have read many books and websites regarding this band. Very few people Do Not like them. For me, they are a guilty pleasure. Jim was perhaps the most handsome frontman ever. And i feel the fusion of jazz/pop and poetry worked well. People tend to dismiss the musicianship of the band. I find them to be very good players that complimented jims vocals. He had a lounge singer kinda voice. But it worked very well.

Any fans?

Spiritually, i do believe the guitarist and drummer were into meditation and somewhat anti-drug. Unfortunately, jim was a severe alcoholic. His antics are well-documented. Its hard to swallow that the band is close to 50 yrs old! Makes me old then, lol.

The Doors have always seemed overrated in my book. Bad poetry and drunken jams don't necessarily make for a classic combination. The fact that they are way overplayed (at least certain songs) on "Classic Rock" radio doesn't help, either. If I never heard another Doors' song, I wouldn't feel any poorer for it.

I listen to The Doors when I am really depressed. Why that is I don't know but they take me away to some strange times. I love The End,makes me think of Apocolypse Now..creepy stuff. I have some cool Morrison t shirts,wear em often and he was mega handsome.
