i dont know too much about them (dont really listen to much secular stuff anymore) but they have made it BIG in the UK with a song im loving at the moment called "Are you gonna be my girl"
i think they're Australian and the lead singer has a really cool voice.
have a listen to that song if you can - IT ROCKS!!

Getting past the usual garage rock moniker that is being thrown around way too much, Jet is a band that has an old Rolling Stones type sound. They are very good.

Jet is a great band. They're one of the bands that I wouldn't expect myself to like based on the style, but somehow I really like them anyway.

I really enjoy Jet. They have a very old school feel that is really refreshing. If you haven't heard the rest of their Get Born album, you'll probably enjoy the other tracks as well as Are you Gonna Be My Girl.

That track is a little overplayed here, so I usually skip over it anyway.

Jet are a glorified Iggy Pop tribute band. Listen to the intro to 'Are you gonna be my girl' and then the intro to 'Lust For Life. Jet are rip-off merchants and I hate it when bands do that. Why not just be honest and play cover songs?

Allow me to be the pin that bursts your bitter little bubble, sweetie. Iggy Pop isn't the first band to use that intro. It's also very popular in a lot of early jazz songs. Everyone takes their cue from an earlier influence and as much as you may idolize some band, not all of their music is going to be original. There are only so many chord pairings in so many time and key signatures that you can combine before everything starts to sound similar.

I like Jet's sound -- retro, yet fresh! I'm going to see them perform with some other groups in July. Sometimes the band takes criticism for being too much like other bands, but I think it's cool that they acknowledge their influences while creating still-new songs. "Get Born" isn't going to change music forever or anything, but it's a really fun CD!

Well, if we're talkin' Australian bands who emply guitars...You Am I would buy and sell these blokes, but Jet have been lucky and they seem to have a fairly level-headed approach to their success up to this point too, so you can't hate 'em for it. Time will tell if there's any substance there or not. I supect not, but I won't mind being proved wrong.

I understand that they're critics' darlings in the UK, well, that must be the most insecure job description on God's black earth...waiting for the backlash, it's well and truly started with the Vines.

There's a difference between taking cues and ripping off other people's material. Jet rip off other people's material.
