  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

If there is no faith in guns then why have them for self-defense? Yes, it was absolutely wrong for the people to use guns to create the US. Just because the US was successfully created by immigrants why is it assumed it was an act approved by God?

Also, I am not trying to change your mind. All I am doing is showing if people want to have guns then fine, that is their Right, but don't try to use Jesus, the inventor of Christian Pacifism, to underwrite the justification for having the guns for self-defense.

NADIINE:

I just believe we are under grace and not wrath.
I agree on all points here.

I take him as what he is. A king who has a will, and acts within his character to achieve that will. Sin is not to be a part of it. He must destroy it, and there are probably better ways to do this. I wouldn't say he is a pacifist, or one without hate.
He is the Lord,God of Hosts.

The Coming of Christ (Revelation Chapter 19) NASB

11And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
13He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
14And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.
15From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
16And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

-------------

Scripture says that God is not a man that he should lie. And I think that people who want to make God into what their mind wants Him to be discredits Almighty God.

If Jesus was a pacifist mankind has no Hope.
I think alot of people skip Revelation or something - Jesus didn't tie dye His robe . ;):p

If there is no faith in guns then why have them for self-defense?
Why lock your house?
Why lock your car door in a parking lot?
Are you putting faith in that lock instead of God?

We use common sense where we live in the times we live.

Isn't there a verse in the bible that talks about God storing up His wrath for judgment?
Or letting their sins heap up to the heavens or something??

i know other people have addressed your post and i'm not trying to pick on you or anything but i do wanna ask you why you believe Jesus hates guns and doesn't approve of their existence? Does the Bible say guns are bad?

Also does the Bible say we as Christians cannot act in self defense with or without a weapon? I'd be interested in reading those passages :)

I think it's important to remember that God is merciful as well as just. I believe He is very sad looking at the world. But He does love everyone and desperately wants them to turn to Him. If He hated sinners there wouldn't be forgiveness.
Clearly God is loving and forgiving and merciful.

He is also just as clearly a Being fully capable of creating a world filled with horrific suffering and injustice and evil. It is not always easy to love a God who is capable of creating a world with a capacity for such evil.

That being said, the existence of such evil cries out for the wrath of God to restore us to a state of justice. There can be no justice without the wrath of God. Only the wrath of God is capable of destroying evil.

Exactly.

(in general) -When we look at the OT in times where God finally steps in, you read Him saying "I have heard the cries of the people"... people had been abused and harmed and were praying that God intervene & stop it.

Right now I know I cry out for justice where unfit judges have judged wrongly and unfairly ruled; giving the criminal rights and harming the victim - where people are taken advantage of and harmed and even ruined financially.

If there is no proper justice, then.... I'm sorry, but God would be evil becuz it's evil to let evil go unjudged & unpunished.

me too
(it's very important that we not add to scripture - doing that anywhere can result in false doctrines that can harm us in many ways; taking peace & love too far also result in harming many)

Titus 1:15
To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

As I see it, all things are essentially neutral unless they're abused and used wrongly .
