  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know everyone has there own perspective about the parables. But when I read them my first time I saw them in a different way. I had no pastor or bible leader to read with me. Because I had a hard time finding the right church. So, I stayed with the one I knew which was Nazarene church.

So here we go...
The Parable of the Hidden Treasure and The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.” (NRSV, Matthew 13:44-46)

When I read this I thought that the church was the Pearl that was hidden in the field.

The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds
Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ “ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ “ ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’ ” (NIV, Matthew 13:24-30)

Then [Jesus] left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear. (NIV, Matthew 13:36-43)

And this was the words of the pastor or preacher speaking God's Word.

I can find this parable. But it's the one where the fisher men was fishing with nets. And they working together, happy and excited Harvesting people to there church. And this was were I thought the people working together in a church. Because they were happy working with Christ because they were all Spirit filled a happy working with Christ.

I thought this was a hidden church that needs to be made. If I had money I would by this church. But I can not...I have a feeling that I was to do something else. I'm poor, so I can't really do this and I'm on S.S.I. with a mental illness. I could do this when God kills my mental illness. But when I try, my illness is too big and God prevents me, He shows me that my illness is too grand. I have to do this thing as a supporter, and work behind the scenes. So, what do you guys think.

I've never heard of a person buying a church, Mediakira. Although many church buildings have been sold in the UK.

As regards 'working behind the scenes', I'm not sure what you're referring to, although our prayer-life is largely interior and hence hidden.

I love the parables because they speak to us personally. To me, this one speaks of different ways people come to Christ. There are some who find Him by chance (treasure in a field) and there are some who find Him by deliberate intent (pearl). But both of them, once they find Him, realize He is more important than any worldly possession and will trade everything for Him.

I have this parable vividly in my head, yet I just spent a long time looking for it in vain. The closest I found was Matthew 13:47. I think it might be the memory of the scene in the movie Jesus of Nazareth, where He's teaching in Peter's open courtyard, before Matthew shows up and He heals the paralytic. He teaches exactly that, and yes, it's a beautiful picture of how the church should function, in love and humility (as per phillipians 2, and others)

I can assure you, money by itself is useless in the kingdom. When I had it, I found it gave me no spiritual power at all, and even got in the way. You have tremendous power available to you, though, even right now. Even threads like this encourage me to know that there are others who really are interested in the church functioning in love as it is supposed to.

Yes, I remember this scripture in Jesus of Nazareth too. But I can't find it in a bible. I'm switching between bibles right now. Because I'm getting rid of Joyce Meyer. She had all the info because of the amplified bible had more info.

When I read other parables I think of the church function. Other parables talk about the Kingdom that's coming or it's already here. But in my theory that it's already here. Now we just need to be ready for the end times. In that time there will be more evil sinful people, and less Christians. That's what Jesus was talking about in one of His disciples books. I can't say which one. I have a bad memory. lol

With the end times I trust more what Jesus had to say then the revelation scriptures. I have a hard time understanding the revelations. Sorry, folks!

We'll what I meant to say is that I'll work behind the scenes because I have an Mental Illness. When I try to write a book for the Bible trying to say that I seen Christ or I had a burning bush sight. I can feel God closing in on me and starts to pressure on me that I'm sick and not ready. And I can't remember what I've been trying to say.

But I had seen Christ kneeling beside my bed and I seen God as a light bulb and burst it into flames like the burning bush for me in the hospital. So, I thought maybe I'll writing here on this site and use it as a Scripture, or a shout that they do exist. lol

Pearl and hidden treasure is about Jesus himself , he saw that YOU were of great price , and he gave everything that he could ( his life ) to purchase YOU.

Salvation is gift of God , it's not what you have done but what he did for you . Simply accept it as free gift ( 1 cor 15:1-4) this is all about it .

But if you want to have rewards in that Kingdom , ten you go and do good works and follow Christ so you can inherit part of that Kingdom which is to come soon.

Same it does not matter how much you got but how much you spend . Poor widow had two penny only and she gave it to church , she gave more than other people because she gave 100% what she had .

For Jesus giving away 5$ when you have 10$ is more than if you gave away 5000$ when you make 30 000 $ a year .
