  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

yes, she posted it twice, She said Mary is her mother but Jesus is the greater mother...

I'm sorry, i have to disagree... I also do not agree with saying that Jesus nourishes us with milk from His bosom. He does not have breasts David.
Christ nourishes us with the blood from his side wound which is dircetly beneath His bosom. (See shroud of turin.) He has let many saints drink of that wound.

Jesus is male 110%. Look at my signature picture. that's my art. Can't you see that I believe he's is now presently the God-Man? Hurrah!

However Jesus does have motherly qualities. that's what makes Him so approachable.

In my life Jesus was BOTH parents to me. I can't even begin to describe how he took care of me and I will ever love Him for being both a father and mother to me.

I have yet to experience Mary as my Mother too even though I know this in my head theologically. I'll ask Jesus to introduce her to me. It's not easy though because Christ is everything to me. Just the thought of letting go of Jesus in the slightest brings tears to my eyes. But I know he wouldn't be letting me go...he would just be adding another dimension to "my family."

Well Alleluia, that is what we been trying to tell you.

See how easy it is when you put it into context?

All any of us said to you was watch the language, calling Jesus "Our Mother" and saying He feeds us milk from his bosom is problematic.

You went on to defend Him being "our mother "... no He's not our mother, Mary is but He does have mother qualities and can give us motherly love if that is what we need. i would not call it milk though... I really wouldn't.

And I'm sorry you are struggling with Mary and women mothers in general. all I can say is may the Lord bring this healing full circle where you do not look at female mothers as abandoning.

And I can empathsize, my mother did not care about us either when we were little. SHE forsook us and it was in our face daily because she would not go away, she hung around and flaunted her abandonment.

So I do not think you mother forsook you. She was ill. My mother forsook us and now spends every day lamenting. She wasn't ill, she just didn't care and now that she wants us in her life, she realizes when you have nothing to do with your kids when they are little, they tend not to want to have anything to do with you when you're old.

I know it's easy for me to say but I think your mother deserves forgiveness and so does you dad. Ppl do the best they can with what they got. My dad was/is bipolar out of his mind so i can not be mad at him. He did try his best but was very dysfunctional. My mom, she just did what she wanted and was selfish.

So forgive you mom and know she did not die to get away from you, I'm sure she loved you. So cut Mary and your own mom some slack and give Mary a try. Jesus and your own mom wants you to.

KTS, those pics you posted were profound thank you for posting them for us to see. You really are truly blessed with a gift. That is wonderful work. :)

I think this is one huge misunderstanding and we have a whole lot of people talking past one another here. I also think that people were too quick to judge including me and for that I am sorry. :sorry:

Let me try to explain this to you so that maybe we can bury some of the problem here. When you say Jesus is Mother then people see that as you claiming that Jesus is our Mother when in the CC Mary is our Mother. So I think it is just in how you are saying it that is bothering people. I do understand that you do see God as the God Man. And you have explained several times in the thread how you see Jesus as you do. I really think, as I said it is just how you are presenting your thoughts that some people are offended with.

Please know I am praying and I wish nothing but happiness after such tragedy in your life.

I am also pleased that you are at least open to allowing Jesus to show you His Mother. Mary can be a powerful intercessor for us.

Lovingly In Christ
Debi

Wow those are pretty powerful pics you drew KTS. Filled with lots of emotion. Brought me to tears. There is nothing wrong or distorted with you feeling comfort through our Lord. After all He is the one our Blessed mother points us to isn't He. ;)

Whenever I go to sleep at night I always say that I am going to go rest in the Lord. So the second pic brings comfort to me as well.

This is one of the reasons why I started this topic. We need to know how close the Lord is, especially those of us who have no one else to keep us company.

I think you will be blessed by this Celtic prayer. hugs back at you isabella. (Did i thank you for that beautiful picture of Jesus that you sent me?)

Maybe we can just bury the thread. :sorry:

It's all been said, again, and again, and again.
I am technically on Leave of Absence right now I can't perform any staff actions .... besides I think that needs to be up to kisstheson and if she wants the thread closed or not.

:) Thanks, I was actually just half-kidding.

It just seems that at this point there are a couple of parties antagonizing one another to get the last word and I don't see any resolution in sight....but hey, I certainly could be wrong.:holy:

Thank you debi. It's already been considered by the mods and I would be hurt if it was shut down just because a few are aggravated by it. really if they find such a discussion upsetting all they have to is avoid it.

Well bene you may as well throw the song of solomon out of the Bible along with many mystic writings from various saints. I'm not tripped up about Mary either. I just don't feel close to her the way I do Jesus.

Oh my goodness! Annabel!!! I just sobbed while I watched this video. That song always meant a lot to me especially when I started following Jesus in the early 70's. You captured my heart 110% How did you know that Christ is also my Beloved, my One and Only? It seems like He inspired you to post this tonight as earlier I had gone to Him in tears.

And to everyone else...if you want to really understand me maybe you too should watch this video. In any case Jesus is there for all of us!

Thank you debi. It's already been considered by the mods and I would be hurt if it was shut down just because a few are aggravated by it. really if they find such a discussion upsetting all they have to is avoid it.

kts, please keep in mind that while such a discussion may be acceptable in other forums of CF, this is OBOB and so is Catholic and such discussions must be in keeping with the Church's teaching.

We have already presented that while it is one thing to acknowledge the maternal characteristics of God, it is an entirely different matter to CALL Jesus our MOTHER.

Jesus is MALE, and so is not "Our Mother". To be called "Our Mother" He would have to be FEMALE. He is NOT Female. He is solidly MALE. He is not androgenous. He is MALE.

God is FATHER. And as has already been brought out in this thread, to call God our Mother has been denounced by the Church.

It is the choice of calling Jesus "our mother" in your OP and title that caused the problem, and a seeming unwillingness to understand how doing so in a Catholic forum, among those who are very solidly orthodox in their understanding of the Catholic faith, creates problems, can scandalize, and even contradicts the Church's teaching.

This is, after all, OBOB and Church teaching is to be upheld and conformed to, not diminshed or pushed aside in favor of personal revelation and understanding.

No one has any problem with reconginzing that God has maternal qualities :) or that these maternal qualities have been extremely important to you in your faith journey. I am the last person who would want to deny this or minimize this in any way.

But there are two issues here, not just one. The issues are
1) your experience, which is beautiful and we are all appreciative of and thank God He has helped you in such a manner, and
2) the theological problems with a representation of Christ as "our mother" which is in contradiction to the Church's teaching.

God has maternal qualities. We all agree. :)

But as was previously shared in the thread, these maternal qualities only serve to enrich the FATHERHOOD of God, not give Him Motherhood.

And as Pope John Paul II said:
“it is significant that in the passages from the Prophet Isaiah, the fatherhood of God is enriched by images of motherhood
Again, regarding actually calling God "our mother", Pope Benedict XVI said, as Cardinal Ratzinger prefect for the Congretation of the Doctrine of Faith:
“Christianity is not our work; it is a Revelation… we are not authorized to change the Our Father into an Our Mother

As Catholics, we need to uphold Church teaching over our private, personal ideas, even over the words of mystics in the Church. How we speak of something is important, not just the idea we are trying to get across.

My hope and prayer for you and all is that we will become even more conformed to the teachings of the Catholic Church in word and deed. :)

Ya know what TLF...this thread has been reviewed by the mods. It was shut down and then reopened.

You say "WE" Not everyone is seeing this thread the way you do. I wish you would just let it be.
