CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love Jesus and kittycats
I can't really give an informed opinion as I have not seen the film. However from the clippings I did see I found it rather disturbing. I'm all for children being taught the Bible and led to Christ at an early age however I'm not too happy about the way the children were having their emotions whipped up so much. Plus I think they are too young to know all about abortion. Personally if I had children I wouldn't want to send them to Jesus Camp.

I am not pentecostal so my children would feel a little out of place, but I have no problem with Children being taught to boldly contend for the faith, to witness their faith with understanding and to (from what I understand from the conversation over on WWMC is the major problem) to avail themselves of the democratic process to attempt to affect the society they live in for the better when they are old enough. As for teaching Children about abortion my children knew about how an abortion (three most popular types) is affected long before they were teens. It didn't seem to hurt them.

You're probably right ContentInHim. I think next time I see someone posting a question like this in here I will do 2 things before answering: 1. Check to see if the person posting is a member of CC or WWMC and, 2. See if there is already a topic in the WWMC about the subject!
You know it's really pathetic that people have nothing better to do than try to bait people without really wanting to genuinely understand.
I would say it figures, but that would probably be construed as a flame! We've got one person coming in trying to stir up trouble, at the same time another is trying to come in and "quell" the fighting!
Why can't they all just leave us alone??? I don't think we go over there and do this? At least I don't! I can't stand going into that board...
You know... I hear all this talk about tolerance from people who describe themselves as liberals, but I don't see any TOLERANCE being exhibited on their part when it comes to conservative beliefs.

I only saw a clip of it, from Youtube I believe, so I can't really comment on it as a whole. But the part I did see I found rather disturbing. And to be honest, quite strange.

The movie was filmed under deceptive auspices, I believe. Therefore, I'm not going to make any judgment about what's in it since it was apparently edited to make the kids seem scary.

...Actully, I was hearing what Liberal Christians thought of Jesus Camp, I joind in, but I wanted to know if Conservite Christians really thought that was a ture betrayal of Christianty. I would say I am more Moderate then Liberal and if it seem like I was trying to pick a fight sorry.

We've had a few problems in CCC recently and sincerity is hard to distinguish sometimes.Jesus Camp portrays pentecostal kids in a light that frightens many Christians. If you are pentecostal, it looks normal. I happen to like pentecostal churches though before I was a believer I thought they were pretty scary.

To answer post 13...I don't find it a true portrayal of what Christianity stands for. I think that there is a small set of Christians that it works for...but I find the whole movement very dangerous.

Its okeay. I am just trying to understand all veiws. There are other things I would like to hear moer veiws on (Both on what is in the bible and things that have popular with Christians/Non-Christians) and see how they differ from different Christians but I if that is going to be a problem I will stop now.

I don't think so, this started over on WWMC and the individual who started the post seemed interested in the Fundamentalist (kind of the wrong board for that) position. I think it was a sincere question.

Dangerous how Tonks? I have asked this question over on WWMC and it seems the most popular answer is that they are encouraging Children to get involved in the democratic process and trying to affect society.
