  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Idiots... No offence but an atheists tried to claim the other day because the mirical of resurrection (well like the one Jesus went through) has not happened at any other point in history there for it could not have happened... *head-desk* following the same logic others could claim the "big-bang" did not happen.

You really don't see why this doesn't use the same logic set?

I think the claims made on the ressurection of Jesus and the big bang are very different to start with. Saying that something did not happen because there has been only one occurance which has been recorded in history, is a bad argument.

I mean I wasn't there when man touched foot on the moon and that has not happened again, does that mean it did not happen...

I don't mind if someone argues upon the actual evidence given but on purely the number of instances is a bit iffy to say the least.

Here's how I interpret it: We have no real evidence to support the claim that Jesus rose from the dead. However, if the same thing had happened on other occasions, or we had some way to reproduce the effect, then it becomes plausible. As a simple claim, it doesn't really stand.

The big bang is founded upon the evidence that brought scientists to that conclusion. We have some pretty hefty evidence that supports the claim.

I agree, by itself, its not a good argument, but in the context of other arguments, I think it could be a valid one.
