For quotes taking out of context, the similarity is still pretty superficial. Given that both were concerned with transformation without violence, iand challenging existing perceptions, it would be just about impossible for there not to similarities in some of the things they said.

Hello again Bloodfire, however Budda has nothing to dowith Christianity, and according to Christianity, reincarnation is impossible, every peson dead and born are seperate people, because when you die, Christianity teaches that you go to heaven or hell. Buddism teaches that if you dont reach nirvanna, you reincarnate to get another shot at it, over and over. Two separate religions, contradicting each other. Whoever made these sites is mislead badly.

Buddha Skakyamuni was born as a royal prince in 624 BC in Lumbini (now part of Nepal).

Jesus often quoted from the Old Testament scriptures, which were estimated as written between 10,000 BCE - 800 BCE.

Buddha was not a god, or attempting to be a god, but searched passionately for enlightenment.

Enlightenment can come from many places, and wisdom can come to people at any time during their lives. It is not exclusive to one religion. Some of these truths are like common sense mixed with courtesy.

I still need to look at your links, but I wanted to comment before I got off track.

The first article states that Buddha was born of a virgin. Another site says his parents were Queen Mayadevi and King Shuddhodana. His mother had a vision about the baby, but I don't think she was a virgin.

The article also states that Buddha is considered a god. Many modern-day Buddhists don't worship Buddha -- they follow his teachings. Apparently some Indian Buddhists do... I was wrong in the earlier post.

The fact is, I think that Buddha did find enlightenment. There are concepts that hold true in any civilization, that people can't hold together unless they humble themselves and care about each other... work for the greater good.

As to some sayings, as Ebia points out, they talk about the same subjects a lot, and share some core values, so there is going to be some similarity.

As to life events, most of the similarities are bogus.

That site shows that most of the similarities aren't real parts of the Buddhist mythology.
