I got home from work one day and I was convinced I was going to hell. So I prayed to God that I believed that He sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. I asked Him to forgive my old life and I told Him if He forgave me I would live my whole life for Him. As I prayed there came love and warmth in my heart. Then I felt physically how God forgave me. My heart was changed. I threw out my fantasy collection, I sold my rock'n roll albums. All I could listen to was worship music. I felt clean like a newborn baby.

This is the short version.
Your short vision is plenty long enough, and very similar to mine!
You received the Holy Spirit ... and you drastically changed!
(For Billy Graham and little ole me,
we didn't know what had happened for 6 whole months!)

That sounds like it. So you say you've sinned since then. Did you know there are two types of sin taught in the Old Testament, our schoolmaster of God's ways? John speaks of the two types in 1 John 5:16-17. Sins unto death (breaking the major commandments of God, which anyone breaking one of the 10C were put to death), and sins NOT unto death - unintentional, unwillful sins that even one walking in the Spirit could commit. God looks at the heart, and these unintentional sins that are not committed in full knowledge and rebellion against God, He automatically cleanses. 1 John 1:7 depicts one walking in the Spirit, and the blood of Jesus is cleansing all his sins. 1 John 2:1 tells us it is possible to not sin (even unintentionally). But if you do sin unintentionally while walking in the Spirit, we have an Advocate that is cleansing those sins. Note there is no mention there of repenting, which you would have to do if the sin was in rebellion against God's laws. No! Jesus is the Advocate for those abiding in Him and walking in His Spirit. Those who commit willful sins against God's laws, Jesus says, "I never knew you." Doesn't sound like He is there Advocate, does it.

If you want to see Old Testament teaching look at Leviticus 5:15 (unintentional sin), and Numbers 15:22-36 (sacrifice, like an Advocate, for unintentional sin, but NO SACRIFICE covered willful sins - they killed them.

To be a true born again of the Spirit Christian, (BAC), they must repent of all sin once and for all, to receive Christ's Spirit.
You don't think there's much difference between a BAC and a charismatic BAC?

What then about me? Your view is that I have lost salvation? I don't mind you saying so if you believe so.

You aren't dead, so you can still truly repent again and restore your relationship with God and He'll give you the power to not willfully commit sins unto death, if that's what you did. We all need to work out our own salvation, but rest assured, only the righteous and holy will be chosen for eternal life. Revelation 22:11.

I don't know. About a year ago I prayed really intense and a word came to me: "Repent!". I believe God wants me to repent, but I don't know where to start.

Confess all of your known sins, going back a long way.
Especially unforgiveness and involvement in occultic practices.
If any sins are going on now, Repent (stop doing them).
This is a place to start.
And ask the Lord to reveal ANYTHING else in your past or present.
May the Lord be with you! Amen!

A born again Christian doesn't commit willful sins. That is the number one reason Jesus came to die for us, to free us from - SIN.

Gifts is another issue, but receiving them or not doesn't change our standing with God. God gave me 7 of the nine gifts of the Spirit, plus prayer language and dreams and visions, and 100% of my prayers are answered. But I already believed in them for 6 years while I was still a sinner, before I was born again of the Spirit and unsaved.. Many "ungifted" BACs are not given overt gifts because they have been taught they are of the devil. They don't have faith to accept them as from God, so quench the Spirit with regards to those types of gifts - but they haven't quenched the Spirit regarding righteousness, and even though they may not give the Spirit credit, they are still following His still small voice, and just call it intuition, or an epiphany.

Simply put His will ahead of your own or fellow man's. (the governance of God ahead of the governance of man)

Start with David's prayer of repentance. He was a king, so had once been anointed (given the Spirit) to rule. In the Old Testament only kings and prophets had the inward Spirit, either with anointing (kings) or born that way (prophets). David committed grievous willful sins as you probably know. (sex with Bathsheba, and having her husband murdered.)

Psalm 51 New King James Version (NKJV)
A Prayer of Repentance
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.
51 Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
4 Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,
And blameless when You judge.

5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.

14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.

18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.

If you would like for me to send you my testimony, just ask and I'll send it to you in your inbox.

Yes, I doubt that receiving the Spirit (salvation) makes people born-again!
They are new creations with the Spirit INSIDE, but not yet classified as born-again!
By Charismatic I meant having the baptism with the Holy Spirit (I didn't mean gifts).

Well since I've been a child I went the wrong way and sinned a lot. But then getting baptized and receiving the Holy Ghost steered me back. I think why is that living a life of sin leads to spiritual emptiness. Living with the Holy Spirit brings peace and joy. So he guided me away from sin to have a better existence.

The #1 reason why the Word came to earth and became Jesus
To set BACs FREE from the bondage of sin (from being slaves of sin)
… so they could overcome sin … and enter heaven!

● “we should no longer be slaves of sin.” (Romans 6:6)
● “For he who has died (with Christ) has been FREED from sin.” (Romans 6:7)
● “reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin” (Romans 6:11
● “For sin shall not have dominion over you” (Romans 6:14)
● “you WERE slaves of sin” (Romans 6:17, Romans 6:20)
● “And having been set FREE from sin” (Romans 6:18, Romans 6:22)
● “Christ Jesus has made me FREE from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2)

“Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy,
and he FREED us from sin.” (1 Corinthians 1:30, NLT)

BACs receive everything, including FREEDOM from sin

When BACs initially receive the Holy Spirit, they receive everything:
redemption, justification, Jesus’ righteousness, positional sanctification, etc.
(The necessity of maintaining this salvation is another topic, not for here!)

“When you came to Christ … Christ performed a spiritual circumcision
—the cutting away of your sinful nature” (Colossians 2:11, NLT)

BACs are capable of overcoming sin

Because they have:
-- a new nature
-- the indwelling Holy Spirit
-- the whole word of God
-- God’s promises that they are NO longer slaves of sin

Yes, through the power of the precious Holy Spirit,
BACs are able to overcome sin and receive eternal life.

Jesus’ definition of an overcomer …
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne,
as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Revelation 3:21)

Jesus overcame the world (1 John 5:4-5), sin, the devil, eternal death, etc.

God’s promise to forgive any sins committed by His BACs

“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all wickedness (sins).” (1 John 1:9)

"This is an extremely important verse … all men need to be repeatedly purified from
all unrighteousness – from all their sins … We must confess our sins and turn from them
… We must also confess them with our actions … (John) is talking here about repentance
… we must hate our sins and turn from them. This is true repentance.
(The Applied New Testament Commentary, 1996, Dr. Thomas Hale, medical missionary)
Have you overcome sin? It is a tall order even with the help of the Holy Spirit. We are still in the flesh and the flesh is weak. Only Jesus Christ of Nazareth overcame sin on our behalf so we could have a relationship with the Father and share in the Kingdom with Him.
Blessings

I agree. Some here disagree because they love their sins and they just don't know how to escape from the bondage of sins, so they create every kinds of theologies to support their sinful natures and then start forcing people to accept their views.

Those who believe in faith alone, OSAS, easy believesm, antinomianism, and all kinds of weird teachings, are just lovers of sins.

Gee, I thought his number one mission, was to save people from burning in unspeakable agony, for all eternity....at least that's what I've been lead to believe.
