in another thread the topic of the Jesuits came up
it seems that in their long history, they have always been controversial figures
it saddened me to see that some people were rather flippant in their criticisms of such a respected order of Priests
an order that has now given us our current Pope
at the same time, I have heard many anecdotal stories about the Jesuits that have been troubling
such as support for "Liberation Theology" which has been condemned by Pope John Paul II
I know @Colin and @S.ilvio feel very passionately about this subject
I have great respect for St. Ignatius of Loyola, he did much to combat heresy in Europe
St. Francis Xavier was a missionary who went to the ends of the earth out of love for Christ and His Church
