Jerry Springer article

For those of you who may have noticed the small furore over here regarding the Jerry Springer 'opera', ship of fools has recently posted an article about it which i think is worth reading. Note, anyone excessively sensitive perhaps shouldn't read it- it uses a naughty word!

My dad used to work for the BBC, and I'm a big fan of their's, and I still find it funny.

What makes it even worse is that people like Tom and I have to pay the BBC a licence fee to fund them making trash like that.

I hope the fee does get abolished. There seems to be huge anti-Christian prejudice at the BBC.

There is absoluely no doubt that had this programme been aimed at the prophet Mohammed in the same way it was at the Christian faith, the Beeb would never have dared make it, let alone screen it. The Islamic faith would not have allowed such blasphemy to be aired, and would have taken whatever steps nessasarry to stop it.

Perhaps the Christian church needs to toughen up a little and make government and broadcasters alike realise that it is not going to be pushed around any longer.

Obviously, I am not suggesting violence or indeed anything illegal, but it is going to take more than just a few placards.

I doubt the programme is harmful, since it is so over-the-top. It's the many subtle attacks that I think are more dangerous.

You could say that we have a right to freedom of religion only so far as it doesn't affect anybody else. But this is to turn religion into a drug for personal use only – possession may be all right, just don't get caught dealing.

This part caught my interest. Isn't that the way it is ? It is the way the world wants it.
