Anyone see this new show tonight? Look good? Predictable? Waste of time? Too early to tell?

Myself, i watched it and seems like a combo of several shows that have been on but just happens to have a nuclear twist to the plot.

Gonna watch the episode next week and maybe then figure out if I like it or not.

I'm waiting for Saturday's encore showing of the premiere of Jericho. Would've watched it last night but my wife wanted to watch BONES on FOX and I wanted
to watch Daystar's semi-annual share-a-thon (especially since Daystar's co-presidents Marcus and Joni Lamb seldom host any live nighttime programs. Their regular live daily show Celebration airs at 11AM Central time).

I love the show! I saw it last night and the concept behind it is quite scary.... nuclear bombs over Denver and Atlanta. *shivers*

I rather liked the first episode, though I'm not sure that the speech at the gas station was very realistic. I plan to watch it again.

I liked it, but the premise seems to be a bit limited for a long series run.

I don't know if it's appointment television for me, but it was pretty good and they've got a pretty good cast. There's really nothing on Wednesdays at 8/7 that interest me so I'll probably watch it until it jumps the shark or gets canceled.

My wife found episode one confusing, to which I said it should be, because even the show's characters are in a state of confusion as would be expected by a sudden devastation.
What I didn't understand was why the bombing of Denver was constantly mentioned and not Wichita...
I say Wichita because a highway sign seemed to indicated that Wichita, Kansas? (or is their a small one in Colorado?) was about 15-25 miles away. Why didn't someone get selected to go find out if it still existed and report to those people on the situation in Jericho?
If you got even a dozen people living 20 miles from your position, it'd take 20-30 minutes to get a Jericho resident out there to determing whether anyone else survived or not.

Another thing, most good AM radios, and maybe some cheap models, can pull in stations from as far away as 1,000 miles at night. Having several townsfolk with battery operated radions or even walkman tuning to see if any cities large or small were still getting out radio signals would give the Jerichonites an even bigger idea of who is still alive out there, even if far off.

I’m thinking this one is a go for the long haul. Some think the story line may run out soon but other things/people could come into town and cause havoc? They could move to outlying towns etc..

I agree with the comments here - I think this show is gonna be both long haul and have some good and some dry episodes in it. There is a lot of plot possibilities for a post nuke blast scenario. The speach at the gas station, well, maybe I am a cynical type but gimme a break - the mayor really think that all the folks are gonna forget their panic 30 seconds ago becasue he sais to be calm and work together?

But the premise of a post nuke blast and its effects on a smal town might be interesting to watch. for a while.

Not really, I did get a family show vibe from some of it, other parts were pretty suspenseful.

I think the title of the show and the religious significance is just a coincidence. As far as I can tell, its just the name of a town tossed out on the plains of Kansas, Kinda like the show "Crossing Jordan" has nothing to do with the river or Isreal. 'least wise thats how it appeasr to me so far.

I watched the pilot on online and really liked it. I could see were the show was going, but they did have to get you caught you on the town and all the people. I hope they continue to show it on the net. This is one way I can watch when I want.

just another pretty-people mini-series. no surprises, "add more uranium" please. predictable dialogue, a waste air-time. who wants to watch people that look cool act badly. "watch soaps"or better yet go act on a soap. ------------jeremeycross

I couldn't understand why the prisoners took the sheriff and deputy hostage. That made no sense.

I think you're misunderstanding distances in the western US. Jericho, a fictional town, is supposedly within a half hour of Goodland, KS and near the Colorado border. To give you a frame of reference, Goodland is roughly 200 miles (about 3 hours) from Denver, about 325 miles from Wichita (5 hours), and Kansas City is well over 400 miles away. There are no large cities either North or South of Goodland.

As for AM radio, your first problem is that the closest cities to Jericho were nuked, so there will be no radio from those cities. Second, AM radio frequencies are very susceptible to atmospheric conditions; the bombs dropped, especially the dust that has been blown into the air, would make atmospheric conditions extremely poor for AM frequencies.

This show is getting better and more interesting. I'm glad CBS picked it up for the rest of the season, makes a nice warmup for 'Lost'!
