• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

PS: I guess I would also say that His Word is already truth but becomes increasingly immediate to our personal experience, by faith, often via trials and tribulations. Philippians 3.10 speaks of 'the fellowship of His sufferings'.
Oh yeah but I mean personal heart understanding of the Truth. Instead of being Truth it becomes a deep understanding and written on your heart. You see the Truth in it.

Yes, personal acknowledgment of what is already true is vital, else what good does it do to the individual?

PS: "But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay." (Jeremiah 20.9)

Head knowledge is great but heart knowledge transforms.

Well, exactly; Pascal said: 'The heart has its reasons that reason knows nothing of'.

And he wasn't just talking of love affairs; he wrote a lot about faith matters.

I think the verse: "I believed, therefore have I spoken" (Psalm 116.10) nicely sums up the relationship between head and heart in faith. :)
Psalms 116:7 Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

Psalm 116
New International Version
Psalm 116

1I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;

he heard my cry for mercy.

2Because he turned his ear to me,

I will call on him as long as I live.

3The cords of death entangled me,

the anguish of the grave came over me;

I was overcome by distress and sorrow.

4Then I called on the name of the Lord:

“Lord, save me!”

5The Lord is gracious and righteous;

our God is full of compassion.

6The Lord protects the unwary;

when I was brought low, he saved me.

7Return to your rest, my soul,

for the Lord has been good to you.

8For you, Lord, have delivered me from death,

my eyes from tears,

my feet from stumbling,

9that I may walk before the Lord

in the land of the living.

10I trusted in the Lord when I said,

“I am greatly afflicted”;

11in my alarm I said,

“Everyone is a liar.”

12What shall I return to the Lord

for all his goodness to me?

13I will lift up the cup of salvation

and call on the name of the Lord.

14I will fulfill my vows to the Lord

in the presence of all his people.

15Precious in the sight of the Lord

is the death of his faithful servants.

16Truly I am your servant, Lord;

I serve you just as my mother did;

you have freed me from my chains.

17I will sacrifice a thank offering to you

and call on the name of the Lord.

18I will fulfill my vows to the Lord

in the presence of all his people,

19in the courts of the house of the Lord—

in your midst, Jerusalem.

Praise the Lord.a

It wasn't what I meant but a lovely psalm to reflect on. It's quite profound actually, if only the children would quieten down to enable thought

The Psalms are amazing for their sheer range and depth of human experience; the highs, the lows, the anguish, the faith, the Messianic content.

Oh of course, you have the decibels of a houseful to contend with. :)
It makes replying to people who nitpick at what you say and post lengthy posts full of technical words quite tedious and barely possible :D

Well, I hope I'm not too nitpicky :).

Yes, sometimes if there is disturbance in the background, one's train of thought can be replete with multi-tasking... :) But you women are really good at multi-tasking, anyway, usually. :)

I have brain fog in the evenings from thyroid exhaustion. It's tricky to think.
