Been so touched by it while listening to it on audiobible. I love the Fathers ways and it really does show a lot of how expects us to live.

Hi I love Jeremiah and think that his message in large applies globally today. He is a young man when he begins his ministry and yet the final end of his prophecy came when he was very old.
The LORD gave the people many years to repent and they did not. He opens with a sad but wonderful truth in naming the sins of the people.
11 Has a nation changed
its gods,
Which
are not gods?
But My people have changed their Glory
For
what does not profit.
12 Be astonished, O heavens, at this,
And be horribly afraid;
Be very desolate,” says the LORD.
13 “For My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.
I love this passage as Jesus claimed to be able to provide living water from our inner most being and this idea goes back to Exodus when God provided the water in the wilderness and again to the future where Jesus returns in Zech 14
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,
Making a very large valley;
Thus the LORD my God will come,
And all the saints with You.
6 It shall come to pass in that day
That there will be no light;
The lights will diminish.
7 It shall be one day
Which is known to the LORD—
Neither day nor night.
But at evening time it shall happen
That it will be light.
8 And in that day it shall be
That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem,
Half of them toward the eastern sea
And half of them toward the western sea;
In both summer and winter it shall occur.
9 And the LORD shall be King over all the earth.
In Jeremiah the book of the law in Leviticus 26 and repeated again in Duet 28 give Gods laws of reaping and sowing for the nation of Israel and every behavior had a corresponding punishment up to and including being totally destroyed and taken captive out of the land. God always promised to keep the covenant with Abraham which was an unconditional covenant to give the land to his descendants as an eternal possession so the law had both provisions for kicking the Jews out for breaking the law and also for bringing them back to fulfill Gods word. It is one thing to predict someones destruction but quite another to predict the return and re-establsihment of a country. In Jer the exact provisions of the law 70 years in captivity were determined because for 490 years they had not let the land have its Sabbath rest. (70 x7 again comes up in Daniel 9 and Jesus saying we are to forgive up to 70 times 7) So they got destroyed at the end and even a remnant was left and did well yet they through fear fled when no one was pursuing them just as the law stated they would. Anyways Jeremiah is often quoted in the passage in ch 29 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. This is the theme of Israel that one day things will be different for Israel. In Ch 30
‘We have heard a voice of trembling,
Of fear, and not of peace.
6 Ask now, and see,
Whether a man is ever in labor with child?
So why do I see every man
with his hands on his loins
Like a woman in labor,
And all faces turned pale?
7 Alas! For that day
is great,
So that none
is like it;
And it
is the time of Jacob’s trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it.
This is the hope that at the 2nd coming Israel is saved physically and accepts Jesus as God incarnate. There is so much still to come.
