I'd love to start a thread devoted to the great Jeeves and Wooster TV show from the 80s.

Full of great lines...Who else would love to quote them here with me?

alas this is the only Hugh Laurie show I've never seen... I love Stephen Fry as well... but the entire series is on my Netflix list...

I absolutely love this program, it is great! I have read many of the P.G Wodehouse stories (highly recommended, extremely funny) and think they are marvellous. So harmless, but still very funny in an old fashioned way. I have all four of the DVD’s. I love the characters names: Tubby Glossop, Aunt Aguather, Aunt Dahlia etc. I always find Bertie Wooster’s little schemes, such as getting one of his mates fixed up with a women so hilarious, they always end in such a disaster.

I like Honoria Glossop, and Sir Roderick is funny too.

I love Jeeves and Wooster. Putting Fry and Laurie in the lead roles was possibly the most perfect casting decision ever.

Agreed. Laurie and Fry actually attended Eton together, and so they knew each other well by the time the show actually came into being.

They'd also been doing standup together for years, so they already had really good chemistry. They were both excellent in Blackadder as well.

i've seen the first series ................ but the rest aren't out in region 4 format --- need to get it from the US i guess ....... i liked watching it though ......... and blackadder --- but didn't like the bit of fry and laurie skits they did together

laurie makes a great wooster! and fry a very good jeeves

I have never seen blackadder. What's it about?

Blackadder is actually a series. Each one is set in a different historical period, and follows the adventures of a different Edmund Blackadder (all played by Rowan Atkinson) each time. Blackadder is a coward and an opportunist, who tries to gain power without putting himself in any danger.

Here's a clip for you (which also has Fry and Laurie in it). It's from the second series, which is set in Elizabethan times.
